Nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest is the quaint little town of Brethren, Michigan. With a population of just over 1000 people, it is quite possibly one of the best kept secrets in the state. On the other side of the Manistee River is the humble town of Wellston, Michigan. With a slightly larger population, this area overflows with charm. Natural beauty abounds in these towns. They offer abundant activities for every season.

Northwoods Lodging offers you a “home away from home” experience. Our cabins are fully furnished and cozy. We provide you with not only a place to lay your head, but a place to make life long memories. You will find everything you need in our cabins, aside from your personal care items, to make you feel right at home.
We now have Wi-Fi!!

Please leave beds that are used unmade on day of departure. If a bed is not being used please do not disturb or let children play on them.

ONLY the number of people listed on VRBO contract may be at the house. Absolutely NO parties with outside people gathering.

We have fire wood available at 4610 Highbridge Rd. It is located on the side of the garage under our business sign. Cost is $5 a bundle or 6 bundles for $25.

Perfect location.

This place is the perfect location and always clean. The hosts are very nice and we have never had any issues. Close to great fishing accesses and right across the street from a sports bar for easy food/drinks.

Host communicated well. Plenty of space for a large family. A/C in main room and main bedroom worked very well. Drawbacks Internet streaming was lacking and no a/c in second bedroom.

hunting trip 2023

we stayed at the property while we hunted the public land areas in brethren. I was amazed at how clean the property was ... smelled good, looked good, everything. one of the things that i particularly appreciated was that the linens and sheets and blankets didn't smell musty. i have asthma and allergies and often times cabins like this have issues with air quality and everything smells like mold. NOT THE CASE HERE! Would definitely stay again :)

In the Woods

The rental was nice and clean. The AC worked nicely especially during the warmer days. It could have used a better quality cookware, utensils and better chairs since we used the table a lot. Two of the table chairs reclined significantly which made it difficult to eat (plus they squeaked). The master bedroom door is also squeaky and needs a little WD-40. Overall, the rental was spacious, and cool.

BFF Weekend!

The location of property was perfect and restaurant across street is a a good place to dine. Property was amazing lots of space very quiet gave our 1 yr old grandson area to play. The house was perfect for our group of 5 beds were comfortable. Plenty of seating and fully equipped kitchen not that we used stove much as we premake meals so we used microwave more to reheat things. Great place to relax/sleep in between fishing. If we had any question or issues the host was right on it quick replies any time I reached out. The house was very clean when we arrived. This is a great place to stay I would highly recommend

Family Getaway

The property was in a good location and not to far from all kinds of outdoor activities. We went to the beaches on Lake Michigan and kayaked the rivers. Tracy was a great host and even provided recommendations of people in the area offering what we were looking for and ended up using the kayak service she recommended.

Great Weekend w/ the Boys

This stay could not have gone any smoother! Awesome area to enjoy a weekend with close friends. It is in a great location with a bar perfectly across the street. The owner replied very quickly and accommodated us very nicely. Overall just an awesome experience and I would 100% rent again.

Clean and Comfy

Would recommend!! Easy Check in and out, clean house, very roomy and easily fit 8 of us. Love the fact that everything was included (linen, dishes, silverware etc.). Has a/c units in windows to keep it cool on the hot days. Property manager was easy to deal with and talk to online, was fairly quick to respond to questions.
