The best area to stay in Berrizaun is the historic centre, particularly around the Plaza Mayor and the streets radiating from it.

This area is the heart of Berrizaun, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets. You'll find a good selection of independent shops, traditional tavernas, and cafes here, all within a short walk of the main landmarks like the Berrizaun Cathedral and the ancient city walls. It's a very convenient area for exploring the town on foot.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the historic centre. The evenings here are particularly pleasant, with opportunities for strolls along cobblestone streets and intimate dinners at local restaurants. Many of the boutique hotels in this area are housed in renovated historic buildings, offering a unique and comfortable stay.

For those who prefer a slightly quieter setting but still want easy access to the town's attractions, the area just outside the city walls, particularly to the west, offers a good compromise.

The best time to visit Berrizaun is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty of the region is at its peak.

During spring, the countryside around Berrizaun bursts into bloom, offering mild temperatures great for outdoor activities. The average daytime temperature ranges from 15°C to 22°C, making it ideal for exploring the hiking trails that wind through the foothills of the Pyrenees or cycling along the scenic routes. This period is particularly good for nature enthusiasts and those who enjoy active holidays.

Autumn also provides excellent conditions, with comfortable temperatures averaging between 18°C and 25°C and the landscape transforming with rich, warm colours. This season is great for couples seeking a romantic getaway, perhaps enjoying a leisurely walk through the nearby Irati Forest, one of Europe's largest beech and fir forests, or sampling the local produce at one of the many gastronomic festivals that take place in the surrounding villages. The grape harvest season in September and October also offers opportunities to visit local vineyards.

While summer (July and August) brings warmer weather, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, it can be quite busy with local holidaymakers. Winter (November to March) is cooler and quieter, with average temperatures between 5°C and 12°C, and some higher areas might see snow, which can appeal to those interested in winter sports or a cosy retreat.
