When is the best time to go to Baxter?

The best times to visit Baxter are during the summer months, from June to August, or in the autumn, from September to October. Summer offers consistently warm weather, ideal for enjoying Baxter Lake and the surrounding outdoor activities. You can expect average temperatures in the low to mid-20s Celsius, great for swimming, boating, and hiking. The days are long, allowing for extended exploration of the state parks and forests. Autumn brings a spectacular display of fall foliage, particularly in late September and early October. The air is crisp, and the temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. This season is great for scenic drives, photography, and enjoying the quieter trails before the winter snows.

Top Baxter Hotel Reviews

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Grand Rapids East, MI

10/10 Excellent

"Very clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff"

Spark by Hilton Grand Rapids

8/10 Good

"It's a solid hotel with a lower price point. Nothing fancy but it's clean and gives you great accommodations for the night. It's a very simple continental breakfast so don't expect hot food but again, for the price point I think it's worth it. The rooms feel a little small with not a lot of room to walk around and there aren't a lot of outlets spread throughout the room, which could be a bit inconvenient. All in all, I recommend."

The Center Hotel Grand Rapids Airport

8/10 Good

"The room was clean, beds comfortable and the bathroom large. We got in late and left early the next morning so can’t comment on other amenities. The downside was rude and noisy neighboring room guests. From 11:30-12:30pm, they talked very loudly in the hall outside of the room and repeatedly entered and exited the room loudly slamming the door. In this day, I wasn’t comfortable speaking to them for fear they might go off— especially since they were so clueless to behave this rudely to begin with. Sadly, the hotel staff never came to check on the situation. It made for an annoying, late night after a long day of driving."
