The line-ups to get in are ridiculous. But the new sculpture in the square, Angels Unawares, is exceptionally moving!!! Definitely glad we saw that!!!

Thousands of chairs set up in the Piazza really take away from the experience. Also viewing of interior has been severely limited since I was there last.

Recommend going with guide to many of the more significant sights like Forum, Colosseum and Vatican. They are a wealth of information and provide a much better understanding and context to what you are looking at.

Make sure to cover your shoulders and knees. However, we noticed that the guards were less strict when we visited in the hot summer. They seem to request some people to cover up more, and let others go buy who barely met the dress code. Check it out if you go to the Vatican and are interested in seeing more.

okay BIG TIP.....if you want to skip the crazy long lines and not pay for the Skip the line tickets....well on Sunday every church is open for mass and it is free. Go half an hour before mass starts and go through security check and enjoy the free admission. There is no pictures taking during mass but you are welcome to visit the church after mass. You don't have to be a card carrying catholic to attend but with all religious institutions just be respectful. Woman are not allowed into the church at anytime with bare shoulders or short shorts. A piece of cloth (shawl) can be used to cover up.
