Pretty much everything is good, especially very clean, safe, and organized, but the owner is unusually grumpy and rude. I'm not the only one to have this problem (see other reviews). But you get a very good deal for how cheap this place is.

I had a great stay at Penang Palace. Although a little hidden it was a great location near by the train station and a bus station. When I arrived, the manager greated me and gave me a map and noted areas that are most visited. They kept the room clean daily and provided me with necessities.

Penang Palace and Markets.
I choose this hotel specially due to its location to the large markets. I went out at 5 am and bought seafood to take up country by air next morning. Staff was helpful. Location tricky. There a sign in a main street, then a short alley then the hotel. Overall nice place.

Awesome place
This hotel was hard to locate, but just give the taxi driver its phone number and the boss will be happy to direct him. The room has everything I can ask for - abundant supply of hot/cold water, hair dryer, strong wifi connection. Highly recommended!
