"As soon as you walk in you get this awful smell, smells like a dead rodent or something.. room wasn’t very clean you can tell they do a quick wipe down and just let the next person go in. but unfortunately this was one of the better motels in the area. "The home is spacious & well maintained. Beds and living room furniture are very comfortable. We didn't do much cooking, but the kitchen had plenty of dishes & other equipment. The only complaint is most of the windows/doors in the living/ kitchen area dont have shades. The morning sun is blinding in that space. The view is amazing though! My sisters & I all agreed this was our favorite VRBO ever! Oh, & Rene was great to work with."

![The plantation received its name because it was the location of Captain John Smith's "New Fort," built in 1609, located directly across the James River from the Jamestown colony. The fort was quickly abandoned due to dry rot and a rat infestation.[4] The same land was later given by Chief Powhatan to John Rolfe as a dowry for the hand of Pocahontas when Rolfe and Pocahontas married. Archaeological surveys of the property have revealed that a number of structures have existed on the property and the present, restored main house was built by Jacob Faulcon in 1751.[6]
