"Overall, it was a good experience. We would stay at Wedmore Place again. The room was spacious and clean. One downside was that we found only one accessible outlet in the room to charge our devices, and the wifi didn't work consistently. However, we appreciated that we could purchase a bottle of wine from the front desk, and the included breakfast was a nice way to start the day. It's definitely not a generic hotel, so if you want to avoid the chain hotels, it's a good pick!"

"It was a beautiful home with lots of space and outstanding views. We could watch the tide come in and the ducks and vultures - who are very entertaining! Everything was very clean. I was disappointed that the gas fireplace didn’t work, but we were so tired when coming back from Williamsburg that we hardly noticed! We will be back! Thank you for everything!"

![The plantation received its name because it was the location of Captain John Smith's "New Fort," built in 1609, located directly across the James River from the Jamestown colony. The fort was quickly abandoned due to dry rot and a rat infestation.[4] The same land was later given by Chief Powhatan to John Rolfe as a dowry for the hand of Pocahontas when Rolfe and Pocahontas married.
