Nestled against the vast, wild Planoise forest (a true "green lung" in the southern Morvan massif, perfect for leisurely walks or mountain biking) in a magnificent, unspoiled setting of gently rolling countryside, this twice-thousand-year-old town, designated a "Town of Art & History," boasts a unique heritage: exceptional Gallo-Roman remains (temple, gates, theater, Couhard Pyramid, etc.), medieval remains (12th-century St. Lazarus Cathedral, ancient ramparts, Ursuline Tower, 11th-century Romanesque chapel, upper town with half-timbered houses, etc.), and classical remains (19th-century covered market halls, Italian-style theater from 1884, 17th-century military high school, etc.). Spacious and comfortable gîte. Pleasant, bright living room. Fully equipped (including a piano and video projection screen with a large DVD collection).
