Peaceful historic log cabin getaway on 40 acres - NO cleaning fee!
10/10 Excellent
"We had an wonderful stay! This cabin is amazing - the workmanship was impressive! As others have already said, it is super clean, and the peace and quiet of the area cannot be beat. Serpell was a wonderful host - she checked to make sure we didn't need anything, and let us know she was nearby if something came up. There were pamphlets and recommendations for anything we needed. We understood everything would be a drive, but that's what we wanted - to be in the middle of nowhere, with the sounds of nature all around us. (We also enjoyed walking to the barn to see the cows in person.) I can only imagine that the prairie of wildflowers is beautiful when in bloom, so we'll just have to come back! We hiked several trails - Buzzardroost Rock was worth the climb for the end result's view. (I would love to see it in the Fall.) But we preferred Quiverheart Gorge, which was beautiful the entire route - with a lovely waterfall, interesting rock formations, and amazing moss, ferns, and wildflowers for us to see during the entire walk. We also took a day trip to Portsmouth to view the Floodwall Mural, which was definitely worth the drive! The cabin was a great place to return to every evening, and we truly felt at home. We definitely enjoyed the covered side porch and the swing!! We listened to birds, read books, and enjoyed hearing the sound of rain hit the roof one evening. We HIGHLY recommend this cabin and the owner(s) for a fantastic vacation experience!!"
New 3 Bedroom Log Cabin nestled in the woods with one acre fishing lake .
10/10 Excellent
"We wanted to find a perfect cabin for a few days to relax and go fishing and found it!! We had the perfect time at Jim’s place, he was so easy to work with from day one. The stocked lake was great for fishing and easy to walk to from the cabin. We cooked on the grill every night, then played games (he has a lot of games for the guests to use), watched movies and basically relaxed! The kitchen has everything for people that like cooking. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are beautifully done. There are chairs and picnic tables by the lake and we spent hours there! I will recommend to friends and family and would go back again. Don’t hesitate! Book and enjoy!! "
"Our get away visit/stay was just perfect! Super clean cabin the has just what someone needs to get away. Enjoyed the jacuzzi every night The host Frank was perfect in supplying all every one needs and the wine was great too! Will be back next time we visit family ! "
The Bear Den (Secluded in Amish Country and peaceful)
10/10 Excellent
"We, my husband and I stayed here last year and added my sister and her husband thia year. We were asked to switch cabins, not a problem at all. It was exactly the same. Everyone mentions the cleanliness and its true. The funny thing was my sister walked around the cabin and exclaimed, "it's just as clean outside." More than that, it is quiet with nature sounds all around. I love the front porch and the firepit area. Everything is top quality and so well maintained. We will be back."
