Lodge at Whitefish Lake

The outdoor hot tub was lovely. The food at the boat club was good, we had $1 oysters and shared the elk meatballs and French onion soup. Our room had a fireplace which was so romantic! The only negative for us was we were on the ground floor and the latch for the window in our room was broken so someone could theoretically open the window from the outside if they tried. It never happened of course but I did have restless nights worrying about it, but that's just me. Would definitely stay again!

We specifically asked for a quiet room and was assigned a room right next to an elevator, an ice machine/vending machine, and faced the highway all items I listed in my request. Especially disturbing was that this bed room window faced the main front door of this wing which was only 20 ft away. This was a major design fail of the facility to have a room configured this way and I felt assigning us this room was done on purpose as the person checking us in seemed to have a chip on their shoulder. The hotel was mostly empty as it was off-season so its difficult not to take this personally. I don't know if they were having a bad day, didn't like the clothes I was wearing or what, but clearly this room assignment was not an accident. Everything I listed as problems, i.e. ice/vending machines, elevator, road noise was totally disregarded. I had to go back to front desk and request a room change, the staff accommodated us but only after a discussion that took way too long. Based on unit pricing this is a major fail. We had a busy Sunday away from the lodge and got back to our room late in the evening only to find that the room had not been made up which was another major fail. Not what I expected based on this hotel's pricing. On the positive side the lobby is awesome, there was a great guitarist playing in the bar in the evening, and our room was beautiful.
