Nestled in the woods of the Hiawatha National Forest, close to Pictured Rocks Nat'l Lakeshore, is a place where time is forgotten. Whether to get the family away from a hectic city schedule, for a 'girls' or 'boys' weekend retreat or a getaway for mom & dad to relax & unwind, you'll find Maple Ridge cottage to be a place you'll want to return to often! Gaze into the light of the outdoor fire or sip a cool drink while lounging on the deck; you'll find peaceful times at Maple Ridge. Just a walk away from hiking trails & swimming, Maple Ridge cottage in the woods, is sure to capture your heart. Cottage Amenities: The Cottage is very popular because of its amenities, charm & location to snowmobile, hiking trails & all that our beautiful Upper Peninsula has to offer you. Try our queen size beds, all bedding included. Family room, spacious deck & fire pit (spring thru fall) are sure to be a hit. Don't worry about 'roughing it' at Maple Ridge! Maple Ridge area: Maple Ridge is located in the Hiawatha National Forest on 2 wooded quiet acres. The cabin can sleep up to 12 guests as follows: 3 queen beds, 1 twin bed, 1 sofa sleeper (main floor); 2 full rollaways and 1 queen air mattress! Pete's Lake area is within walking distance, only 1/2 mile from Maple Ridge and has a nice beach and swimming area, fishing pier, picnic tables and grills. Hiking trails all over the place in our neck of the woods and lots of inland fishing lakes. Bring your boat and canoe along and trailer to many, many area lakes. A fire in the fire pit will be great fun at night to make s'mores. Grill your fresh catch on the charcoal grill or if you didn't 'strike out' you can always go into Munising and purchase some fresh Lake Superior trout! Take the short drive, on our beautiful Federal Forest Hwy, into Munising to enjoy Pictured Rocks cruise, glass bottom boat rides, golfing, charter fishing, shopping, and more, and then enjoy your time back at the cottage with peace and quiet in the woods. The owners were very accommodating, easy to talk to, and quick to responding to any questions or concerns. They allowed us to bring are fur babies too! Great experience. We loved the location. Quiet, peaceful, and the neighbors aren't close by. Quite a bit of privacy but still close enough to the places we wanted to explore; grand island, miners falls, miners castle, and miners beach. ##### Sonya S. Our stay at Maple Ridge made our vacation all the sweeter this year. The cabin was as described/pictured, clean with a well stocked kitchen. Our family of nine (seven children ages 17 to four) had plenty of space to comfortably enjoy our week away with a great selection of both inside and outside toys and games. Our first evening there we had planned to unpack the van and “set up” for the week. Much to my surprise we ended the evening with a game of washers with the teens, a campfire and star gazing! Lisa, the host was very helpful with directions, timely communication and even shared information about the local 4th of July festival. Last minute we decided to bring the atvs and canoe and though we didn’t have much time to use them because of other things we did we would love to return to do more riding and canoeing. On one of his rides my husband even saw a bear! We also did a day at Mackinaw island and a day to visit the Soo Locks. It was a bit of a long drive to both of those but a perfect location for waterfall hikes and exploring Lake Superior Pictured Rocks area. The house was just as advertised and having the garage to put the atvs in was a bonus! Property manager Lisa was great to work with and even checked with us at arrival time to make sure we got there ok and again at checkout to see if there were any problems with anything during our visit. Kitchen had an abundance of cookware, small appliances and dishes. There were even spices for cooking. Depending on the nature of your visit, the location isn’t great. It’s about 14 miles from downtown Munising so it wasn’t ideal for us - we were there for the hiking, falls and beaches. The listing also indicates that it is a half mile from Pete’s Lake - we never did find the walking path to the area. Communication with Lisa, the host, was great. There are lots of specific requests/rules and housekeeping items you are asked to take care of. The WiFi is good once you are at the cabin, but the surrounding area is dead. Future trips we’ll choose something closer to town but all in all it was a good experience. ##### Lynn D.
