Both units VRBO #507795 and VRBO# 854197 are very similar and remodeled at the same time. Please contact us if you are interested in one of our one bedroom one bath units or both units by adjoining the units for a spacious 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. This unit is one of the most sought after and revisited vacation destination on Oahu's west side of the island The west side of Oahu is known as the dryer and sunnier side of the island. It is the Waianae Coast. The weather is less humid, less rainy, more sunshine and you can feel the tropical Hawaiian trade winds blow through the units. This weather difference results in some of the clearest cleanest waters on the island of Oahu. These clear blue waters provide an ideal backdrop for photography, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, bodyboarding, surfing, kayaking, boating, hiking or simply relaxing on the lanai. Makaha is located approximately 40 minutes from the airport by car and 60 minutes west from the hustle and bustle of the state’s capital Honolulu, famous Waikiki Beach, Punchbowl Cemetery, and Diamond Head Crater. Most of the other major tourist attractions on Oahu are an easy day trip from the condos. Come and stay at the beach in this rural community of Makaha. Enjoy the "local" environment, the local residents, and experience some of the most beautiful, uncrowded sandy beaches on the island of Oahu. You can easily visit the famous Makaha International Surfing Beach in the next cove, North Shore's Pipeline and Sunset Beach. Pearl Harbor, or shopping and dining in any of the Resort areas. You can then return home to Makaha, enjoy the beach, swim in the pool, relax in the hot tub, or relax on your lanai to unwind watching the sunset as the fabulous day closes and you recharge for another great day in paradise. This Condominium is one of only a few condominiums that are built right on the beach with the Pacific Ocean at your door step. Few areas in Hawaii can boast of such an secluded, white sand, crescent shaped beach with waters flat at times for snorkeling and surf at other times for "riding the waves". This beach is often referred to as "Oahu's Best Kept Secret" . Very few travelers even know of this beach and it is not seen from the main road. The fabulous views, spectacular sunsets, sounds of the waves and the close proximity to the beach makes this a perfect place to enjoy Hawaii's casual life style. Enjoy paradise, relax with the tropical trade winds, and play all day at the beach. Marine life is abundant in this cove known as "turtle cove". Daily sightings of turtles, dolphins, whales (in season), monk seals, schools of fish, and more can be seen from your private lanai. You might even see the turtles and seal lions on the beach being warmed by the sun. The one bedroom one bath units can accommodate 4 guests and adjoining both units together can accommodate 8\. The unit has everything that you will need with fully equipped kitchen, linens, and beach gear. We have tried to think of everything for your comfort. We arrived well after midnight, but check-in was a breeze. First impressions of the condo? Whisper-quiet. No fan hum, no AC rattle, no neighbour noise. If you’re a light sleeper like me, this place is gold. The layout is excellent—private, accessible, and topped off with a breathtaking view. The balcony easily fits four adults, and with our boys at 19 and 21, it’s worth noting the condo is genuinely comfortable for four grown adults (two couples would be perfect too). The moment we opened the balcony door and heard the surf, we knew we were in heaven. And then—wait… is that a whale? Yup. Whale spotted within 30 seconds. Welcome to paradise. But honestly, even a perfect condo is secondary—this place is all about the BEACH. Huge, private, and never crowded. I’ve seen 5,000 people on beaches this size; most days here there were maybe 12–30\. Sandy entry, gentle surf—safe for kids and great for anyone with mobility concerns. Not us though. I’m here for turtles and tropical fish. About 20 feet out, the reef begins, and I snorkeled two or three times a day, usually along the south spit near the condo. Green sea turtles every time and roughly 30 species of fish. Stay here and skip the snorkeling tour—this bay is the tour. The only downside? The views are stunning, the AC/fans are ice cold and the condo was super clean. Host Gerry has thought of everything you could ever want and need and put it into the condo. Gerry is also very accommodating as well. Seriously I have no complaints. I love west Oahu as it is away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. Of course there’s traffic (it’s inevitable on Oahu) but do your research and plan your day around it and you’ll be fine. The views from the lanai are to die for. There were over a dozen campsites set up and these people had unleashed dogs wandering around on the beach. The homeless camp was in direct view from the lanai. The owner should have disclosed this on the description of his property. Also the owner took over 12 hours to respond to concerns about broken chairs and appliances. Communication should have been more prompt. I understand the Hawaiian laws that allow a homeless camp to exist next to a resort property is not the owners fault but potential renters should be made aware.I would not return to this location unless the homeless camp situation is resolved.JW ##### JW D. This is certainly the spot for it. Right on the beach with far less people than Waikiki with swimming and snorkeling just off the beach. The next bay around has an area known as turtle rock and we frequently saw turtles in the water. You can do as little or as much as you want, either take a book to the beach and sit in the sun until the amazing sunset occurs or pack your walking shoes and drive the along the road until you can't and there are amazing walks. The drive along the coast is beautiful. Just two things, as the owner says, go to the supermarket before you check in. Also there is a connecting door which does increase the noise when there are people next door. If you want to escape the rat race, this is the place for you. ##### Helen M.
