The staff was excellent and the place is very warm and comfortable. There were many choices for breakfast and the place felt very friendly. It is a 100 year old place, so the plumbing is limited (Hot water takes a long time and by then we've run quite a lot of water) and room sizes and shapes are a bit small.

I’ve stayed here a few times. It’s a charming old home beautifully maintained but has a few disadvantages namely not close to town ,no secure parking,no elevator and many steps so need to be in good shape and carry own luggage. There is no TV except in basement rooms. I stay there on business so appreciate the advertised breakfast buffet but this visit....room very nice but NO BREAKFAST -apparently due to a new staffing problem. Another guest said she had no early morning breakfast for 2 days. They probably need a live in staff person to address In house issues. The staff lady that I met at check in,Chelsea, was very nice and helpful. They cannot do much about the street parking. This time I had to park 500 metres away.

Lovely old home converted to a B & B. Loved the details. The location next to the castle is beautiful with easy access to bus routes. Rooms are small but well appointed with updated bathroom. Continental breakfast is sparse but sufficient. Highly encouraged to remove shoes and they do provide slippers or socks.

I liked the castle view. I like the Rockland area. I liked the choice of flavoured teas. I did not like; my FREEZING rooms that simply did not warm all night as in our 4 room suite only one had a radiator and that would not turn up!! No staff on site to ask overnight (informed there was only a manager # to call but for emergency only!). No bedside nightstands, no bedside lamps, no alarm clock, no easy reach cell socket to place phone alarm on, not enough soft lamp lighting throughout. No basics; bottled water, hair conditioner, comp teas, coffee filters, no kettle....... No window covering in bathroom, very ill fitting window covering to all remaining areas. I definitely did not like having to remove my shoes at the entrance!! ( a first for me). The Street parking arrangement was not ideal. Very poorly lit steps up to entrance. No sleep whatsoever - all night i could hear others running taps, an old clock chiming very frequently and when i finally fell asleep after 5.30 am i woke at 6.20 to the banging of kitchen cupboard doors for the next 2 hours as breakfast was being prepared !!! Suffice to say no staff to make complaint to upon departure, only the poor limited breakfast staff rushing around. We will not return.
