The best time to go to Válur is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is at its mildest and the days are long.During this period, you'll experience average temperatures between 10°C and 13°C, which is ideal for exploring the natural landscape. The extended daylight hours, with almost 24 hours of daylight around the summer solstice, provide ample opportunity for hiking, sightseeing, and enjoying the outdoors without feeling rushed. This is particularly good for couples or solo travellers who want to maximise their time exploring the dramatic coastline and the nearby villages. For those interested in birdwatching, late spring and early summer (May to July) are particularly rewarding as many migratory birds return to breed. The cliffs and islands around Streymoy are home to a diverse array of species, and the longer daylight makes it easier to spot them. While the summer is the most popular time, travellers looking for a more serene experience with fewer crowds might consider the shoulder months of May or September. The weather can be a bit cooler and more unpredictable, but you'll still find plenty of daylight and the landscape remains stunning, often with fewer other visitors.
