![Esztergom is a pleasant Hungarian town situated on the Slovakia-Hungary border. Štúrovo is the town on the Slovak side of the border, which has an ethnic Hungarian majority.

On a small hill overlooking the town and the Danube is a Cathedral, which is the largest in Hungary, and the site at which the Hungarian king Vajk (Szent István) was baptised. The adjacent castle complex is also worth a look.

You can easily get here by bus or train from Budapest. Alternatively, you can take a train to Štúrovo which is on the main line between Budapest and Bratislava. "The hotel exceeded our expectations, our room was clean, comfortable and had a lake view. The staff was kind and professional, especially Georgina, who helped us find an excellent room after the first one they assigned us only had a partial view of Lake Balaton. The SPA was also great, but what really impressed us was the abundance of varied, special and delicious foods. I would rank the culinary experience, what we had in the hotel into the top five out of the hundreds of hotels we have stayed in worldwide over the decades."
