Stepping stones cross the Lerderderg River near this MacKenzie Flat picnic ground in Lederderg State Park. This is an easily accessible site which is popular with locals but little known beyond the Bacchus Marsh town boundary.
A great place just outside of Melbourne to go for a hike, lots of trails available from what I've been told but I went on the 10k circuit track and it was beautiful. There where a couple of steep hills to climb resulting in some nice views, then you head down along the river which I found really peaceful. A couple of areas along the track there are some nice places to sit down and enjoy the scenery as well.
