There was a stop for the sunset and some local berbere men shared their sand board with us so we could play on the dunes. The only thing I'd change about the entire experience is the dinner. I wish it'd been more authentic and less "fancy". I should also warn that the heat does not and has not worked in the camp in some time. This isn't just a hotel; it’s an authentic gateway to the Sahara. Located in Hassilabied, right at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, it offers an experience that feels like stepping into a movie set. The Vibe: The architecture is stunning—a traditional artisanal kasbah with beautiful carvings and a sprawling central patio. Whether you’re lounging by the emerald-green pool or sitting on the terrace watching the sunrise over the sand, the "Arabian Nights" atmosphere is everywhere. The Desert Experience: They are experts at desert logistics. We did the camel trek into the dunes for sunset, and it was seamless. They also offer 4x4 adventures and sandboarding. Being only a 1-minute walk from the dunes means you can wander out to see the stars whenever you like. The Food: The kitchen here is incredible. Breakfast was amazing, they also serve lunch and dinner. Authentic Wellness: After a dusty day in the desert, the Beldi Spa and Hammam were a godsend. They even offer traditional sand therapy (Sablothérapie) during the summer months, which is a unique local experience you won't find at many other places.
