"The motel was okay. Couple of things that weren't okay. They said there was going to be a lot of food for breakfast on Sunday including sausages, etc. Meager continental breakfast no sausages, no fruit, mostly carbs. Just don't list as a BREAKFAST, stress CONTINENTAL. I got breakfast out when I left REFRIGERATOR: Put my travel snacks in it: leftovers, fruit, can waters, etc. ALL WERE FROZEN SOLID in morning. Had to wait for things to unthaw. Ruined the fruit. FORGOT CHARGER IN ROOM: My fault. Called that night, they found it. I asked if it could be sent to me they said okay. Took several days before they said they sent it. It's been 2 weeks, still no charger. ???"

"Best thing about the stay was the view of the Mississippi River from our room. Room was clean. Had a fridge and microwave -- nice touch. Internet/Wi-Fi was sporadic; don't count on it for your usage. AC unit worked nicely but was noisy like most motels/hotels. The retreat overlooks Highway 52 on a bluff so you have a nice view of the River. On the downside, there is a rail line close by and trains roll through during the night blowing their whistles and semi trucks going by on Hwy 52 using their air brakes made for challenging nights. Good luck in getting a good, sound night's sleep. The exterior needs some TLC. The property had some nice features such as lounge chairs, grill, and fire pit. But the deck leading to the 2nd level is deteriorating. The structure could use some repair and paint. The grounds seemed to have a natural prairie look but there were weeds to take away from the attempted natural beauty. In summary, the Retreat had some nice features but also could be improved to make a person's stay more enjoyable. Since we didn't spend much time in our room other than sleeping and cleaning up, the negative aspects of the property didn't impact us much."

"Room had damage to walls, loose floor tiles in the bathroom, water damage on the ceiling in the bathroom, and the thermostat did not control the temperature. For 250 a night I would expect the rooms to be taken care of."
