Lovely views over the Salon valley. Perfect spot to enjoy dinner and watch the sun set. Delicious plentiful breakfast. Pool was a nice place to relax after touring.
We loved absolutely everything about our stay. The views, the peacefulness, the history and the on-site dining. Every member of our family ranked it as one of our best-ever stays.
The property was absolutely beautiful. The rooms were whimsical.
We weren't thrilled with the restaurant. The food wasn't very good. We thought it was strange seeing the rolls out on the tables before people were seated. Our dining experience was extremely long almost 3 hours. It was a bit painful.
The staff was mixed. Some great, some seemed like they might be new. Would have been nice to have help with luggage as some of the rooms have very steep stairs.
Can't beat the view
I was delayed to my hotel by several hours and was past check-in. I called the staff and they helpfully left a key to my room and printed out several signs directing me to the romantic "St. Valentin" room.
The hotel is a 12th century monastery and every room is named after a Catholic Saint. I booked it as a surprise high-end property for my wife for our honeymoon and everything about it impressed her and gave us relaxing mornings, and a quiet place to crash after exploring provence. The food was fantastic, the views were breathtaking, and the memories will last forever.
Firstly, what an amazing location, stunning views, but the access road was challenging with a low slung sports car.
The room was a decent size with ok but only mid range amenities. Reception were very good and very helpful, but we were ignored for ages when trying to get a drink after a long journey.
Very good dinner with some unusual menu choices, green olive custard on a desert was a first for me, but surprisingly it worked!
Overall the property needs maintenance, there was peeling paint that was very obvious in the dining room and it had clearly been like that for a while.
The bathroom was clean, but there were some balls of dust on the floor of the bedroom.
A little bit of TLC and this hotel could be wonderful.
This is very special property with the friendliest, kindest staff and the most beautiful food and wine. This place is like a dream. We absolutely loved it.
Beautiful experience! Property is so unique and picturesque. We had balcony with chairs to enjoy sunset . Pool was nice . Great breakfast and views are amazing. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend!
Beautiful, serene countryside surroundings.
Staff superb. Always welcoming and attentive.
Building is unique and authentic.
Cleanliness superb.
No negative but would love kettle and tea facilities
Would 100% book again
The Abbey is so unique and has been meticulously
Maintained. The patio views and setting is nothing short of spectacular. Our room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. A rare gem.
The hotel is located inside an old restored abbey. The location is stunning but not readily accessible through the autoroute. In other words, you have to know it is there and once you are there, you are there. Fortunately, the hotel has a restaurant and a nice breakfast buffet. The rooms are furnished in a more classic style with a complete bathroom. Don’t expect anything modern here. This is a higher standard line of hotels ideal for special celebrations.
Our room and the entire building was amazingly beautiful with a great ambiance. Our room had two balconies with amazing views of country side. Extremely clean room and beautiful facility. Staff were very nice and helpful. The dining area had a great view of hills and countryside and the food was excellent. I had a memorable experience. I highly recommend it.
We booked the largest suite for 5 nights many months in advance because we were traveling as a family, with elders. We called in prior to inquire about accessibility. The front desk staff assured us all would be well; it was not.
The good, bad, and ugly of our stay.
Good: The abbaye is beautifully situated with sweeping views. The service was mixed at best, but Marie-Claire who oversees breakfast service was a stand out staff member who genuinely cares. The maid service was good and consistent.
Bad: The rooms were not as advertised. The air conditioning was not effective. We slept with open windows . The beds were not comfortable. The bed linens are poor quality; fine for 2-stars but not 4-star. There is no shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom and no electrical outlets. The shower sprays hot and cold without warning and the handle for the water is burning hot, as in second degree burn your skin off hot.
The swimming pool is lined with plastic with no steps to access, just a ladder.
Ugly: There is a gentleman at the front desk who incessantly and obsessively tries to up sell you on dining and services without listening to a word you say. He pushed my mother in law to climb an extremely old, winding staircase and when she said how scared she was he dismissed her and pushed her to reserve for dinner. Rude! He failed to show us around our room or explain how things worked which matters in a 900 year old place.
We will not be back.
This is an amazing historical property with wonderful views from the top of the mountain across the valley below. Arrival at night was tricky, so only complaint was underlit driveway and parking with no clear signage to the registration desk. I parked and wondered around the property until I asked the first staff I saw to direct me to the registration desk. The rooms are all unique and provide a stay like no other. The breakfast was a bit pricey for the items offered, but it was cute. Staff were all great and very attentive. Did not have an opportunity to attend the spa, but it looked inviting.
