Hotels in Sorrento Bay, Lower Hutt from CA $72

The best time to visit Sorrento Bay is during the summer months, from December to February, when the weather is warm and sunny, superb for enjoying the outdoors.

Sorrento Bay enjoys a temperate climate, but summer offers the most consistent good weather with average temperatures around 20-25°C. This period is ideal for water activities like swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the bay's clear waters. The longer daylight hours also mean more time to explore the coastal walking tracks and enjoy the scenic views.

Spring (September to November) and Autumn (March to May) are also lovely times to visit, offering milder temperatures and fewer crowds. Spring brings blooming gardens and the chance to see newborn lambs in the surrounding countryside, while autumn showcases beautiful changing foliage. These seasons are superb for couples looking for a more relaxed trip, perhaps enjoying a coastal walk followed by a meal at a nice restaurant overlooking the bay.

Winter (June to August) is generally cooler and wetter, with temperatures averaging 10-15°C. While not ideal for beach activities, winter can still be pleasant for those who enjoy brisk walks, cosy evenings by a fireplace, and exploring local wineries or art galleries without the summer rush.
