Thin walls. I could hear other people’s noises before riding the elevator or even inside my room even if the noise is coming from a room few rooms away from mine! And I swear the I could hear them “getting some action” real freaking loud! If I knew that this was a motel or the like, i never would’ve opted for this one. Too bad a lot of decent hotels are freaking expensive (high up the ceiling expensive) during the eras tour in SG. Ugh. Never again with this hotel! The room i reserved were two twin beds and yet they put us in a one queen bed and the room reeks of cigarette! Jeez! The only thing that was OK with this are the staff and that’s it.

Customers service was great. The shower head is stuck in one spot and because of this the water sprays more so onto the toilet. The linen smelt awful like stale socks.

The last Hotel 81 I stayed at was better. Property looked old and the room had cracks and a couple of stains in the ceiling. The hotel staff were good. Bed was very comfortable!

Very run down and not very clean. Room was very small. Bed was very hard. Towels old and stained. Pillow cases also stained. Windows dont open and no view out due to fixed wooden shutters. Good location close to beach/park, lots of shops and food. Ok for a 1 night stay and close to the airport but wouldnt want to stay any longer. Staff very helpful.

Like most Hotel 81 properties, this is a no frills hotel but the area around Joo Chiat has a huge variety of dining options. Hotel is safe, clean but the area is a huge plus. It has always been a residential area and is still one, albeit more gentrified than before. A safe area with tremendous dining options. However, you are about 15-20 mins walk to the nearest MRT (Eunos).

Appeared to have black mold in bathroom, no shampoo or conditioner, no shower curtain. Walls we’re paper thin so you could hear loud guests at all hours in the night. Was a pretty far walk from the train system so made for long days of walking lots to get to the attractions. Would recommend paying a bit more to be closer to a MRT station.

This property has an "SG Clean" stamp. I thought that meant it would be clean. The first room given to us was dirty and the bathroom had mold all over (on the ceiling and wall) and smelled like mold. It was unsafe !!. Then they moved us to another room which was a little better (no smell) and looked cleaner, but the bathroom had some mold that they tried to cover by paint and caulk. The bed was very hard.

Hotel 81 Sakura was conveniently located to public transportation, several restaurants. The room was surprisingly quiet, clean and comfortable.

A great location at one of Singapore's must see spots with a lot of food and rich in history. The sound proofing of the room was really bad. You can hear the people talking and walking outside.

great value for the dollars
Hotel was clean with a great staff. It was also great value for the money. The rooms are not huge and hall noises could be heard. But you cannot find a better hotel for the dollars in Singapore. The location was excellent with many restaurants nearby to eat at. And if you ever needed transportation the hotel staff could always arrange a taxi. I am from the USA would recommend this hotel highly to friends who want a clean hotel and a nice stay at a lower price.

It was a good stay. The only problem is that the maybe walls are a little bit thin. I can hear water running throughout the whole night and I checked multiple times if I left the shower or sink on and mine was not turned on at all.

I like the simple, clean room with powerful hot shower facility. I did not like there is no sound isolation between room. Some customers just talked too loud, played handphone music too loud without consideration for other hotel customers.

Very dirty. Bugs were everywhere. Holes in the ceiling. Air conditioning that had little to no function. And front desk staff was rude and not helpful whatsoever.
