Mt Lassen and the great outdoors

As you turn onto Thatcher Mill you'll feel the comfort of this mountain retreat. The tranquil drive on a well paved road ends at 9447 Thatcher Mill Road . This 12 year well built home sits back off the road and invites you to relax and enjoy what the Lake McCumber / Mt Lassen area has to offer. The sounds of silence radiate through the trees and gives you the sense of calm. Once inside you'll find a remodeled home with amenities to make your stay as enjoyable as you can make it. A large kitchen with counter seating and a breakfast nook for gathering. A comfortable down filled sofa for relaxing in the family room with vaulted ceiling. A master bedroom and master bathroom with an over sized tub for soaking after a day exploring the surrounding hiking trails. And the second bedroom has a bunk bed with double sized lower mattress. A separate full hallway bathroom too. The backyard is private and quiet as can be. Listen to the squirrels chasing each other or the occasional distant bark of a neighbors dog. It's my happy place for you to call home while you stay and enjoy. By the way, it's a paved road all the way to the driveway, so don't be afraid to bring the Mercedes or even your sports car. Lots to do without having an off road vehicle

Family get-together
We visited Lassen almost every day. Gathered at the house with family members staying in park 4 nights. It worked out well for us.

Excellent location for access to Lassen southern entrance
Home is in a great spot to access the southern entrance to Lassen, just make sure the Lassen highway is open when you book. We were surprised to find the highway was still about half closed in the high elevations due to remnant snow still not cleared in mid-June. This meant less access to the park, but most annoyingly a 2 hour(!) drive to get to the North Entrance of the park. This of course is not the fault of the property owners, just a heads up about the location. If the highway is open, the location is perfect for Lassen. Be aware that restaurants are few and far between in this area, and those that are nearby have limited hours. Red Bluff and Redding offer plenty of dining options, but a good 1.5 hour round trip to either. The home itself is adequately equipped for a comfortable stay. The owners readily admit that Wifi is slow, so be prepared for that. The kitchen is well-equipped and washer and dryer worked great. I would recommend the owners put more (and new) box fans in the home to help with air circulation. The house stays relatively cool, but can get stagnant and the sole existing box fan was extremely noisy. The bunk bed also needs repairs, some of the welds have snapped leaving sharp edges that nearly got my child's hand. Not a huge deal, but definitely areas to improve. The property is in the woods and wonderfully quiet. We saw numerous deer wandering through. Nice fire pit out back to hang out. Overall, a nice property that I would book again.

Visit to Lassen
This place was perfect for our visit to Lassen Volcanic National Park! We loved the layout of the house. The owner thought of all the details in the kitchen, the house, and even outside on the property. Communications and instructions were spot on. We would definitely stay here again if we have the another chance to visit Lassen!

This is an amazing property and home! We loved how kid friendly it is and even though we didn’t bring our dogs they had so many extras for fur babies as well. Home owner was very nice and accommodating. We can’t wait to go back!

Deer and snow!
We had detailed messages long before we arrived and knew what to expect, including parking. The property is cozy and clean, especially looking out over the snow. We loved the couches and the bedrooms. It was exactly what we hoped it would be :)

Close distance to Lassen. Anything you could think of that you may need, from extra toothbrushes to sunscreen. Nice quiet cabin that was great for just adults, or families as well. One room was catered to kids, with bunk beds, books, and coloring books. Excellent communication from host. Definitely would stay again!

Fantastic Lassen National Park cabin
One of the most thoughtfully supplied rentals we've ever stayed in, close to the park, on a quiet street set back from the highway. Todd is very responsive and provides very helpful information. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!
