Wonderful resort

Pros: Location and newly renovated
We had a wonderful stay at the Westin. The resort is newly renovated and the staff is so nice and helpful. Plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas and the location is great. It is right in the middle of 7 mile beach.

Nice hotel. Very close to transportation and beach

Pros: The hotel is in excellent shape.
Cons: The attitude of some of the front desk staff.
Location: Perfect location on the seven mile beach, however the restaurants in the hotel were very expensive so we ate elsewhere including across the street.
The Westin hotel is in a very nice location on Grand Cayman and is in the process of renovations. The hotel décor is excellent, however I was not impressed with the service at the front-desk. We stayed there for eleven nights. Upon check in, the room that we were promised was not ready so we had to move to another room for one night. During our wait for the room, the gentleman who worked at the bar area was very kind to us and kept inquiring to see how we were doing because he sensed that we were agitated with our wait. He even offered us a drink while we were waiting. After finally settling in our room the second night, things began to go smoothly until the evening of the seventh night. Upon return from the beach, our room keys did not work. We went to the front desk and had to wait about fifteen minutes (there were a lot of people checking in at the time) before being attended to. The problem was corrected only after the person at the front desk sent one of the staff to accompany us to the room in order to verify our identities (which we did with our passports). What amazes me is that on the two occasions we ordered drinks on the beach, no identity verification was requested after giving the waiter our names and room number. I would hate to think that our ethnicity had anything to do with the request for verification of our identities after since we had been to the front desk several times to exchange currencies and obtain information.

Hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. If you needed anything they were there promptly. There was an activity company on the hotel premises.

Hotel staff at check in was extremely rude, and couldn't explain everything based off of being overwhelmed with all other associates using the debit reader at his station. When asking questions about incidentals charge, get got aggravated and told me my card was declined and that we needed to quickly provide another credit card. When we asked for a receipt for the incidentals that we just watched him print off, he said there was no receipt. Room was booked back in march so we had so clue about the construction taking place until arrival.

Great hotel choice

Location: Eats for breakfast - right across the street. Legendz,across the street for late night drinks. Alfresco for dinner and alekebob for late night food
Great hotel right on the beach. Currently undergoing renovations but I couldn't really tell aside from the workers walking around. No real noise issues. Our room wasn't ready but they upgraded us to a suite and it was nice and spacious but we wanted and paid for an ocean view. There really wasn't a need to complain though. Eats Café across the street for breakfast was convenient and Alfresco restaurant were amazing. Get the lobster ravioli. The hotel has a bar/grill and they make great drinks and the fish tacos were amazing. A little pricey but wasn't unbearable. Beach is clean and not too crowded. Staff was friendly and very informative about the local hot spots. Loved the front desk staff, the bar staff and the door men. We will return!

Huge Disappointment

Upon arrival i was given a room with a view of a large garbage dumpster and the resort was under construction with scaffolding everywhere. i was not advised of this when i booked. I asked for another room i had to wait until 4:45pm for another room which had a broken glass shower what needed to be replaced. We went for lunch here and waited an hour for some simple pool food and then finally someone remembered to tell us the grill is closed due to rain. We would have sat there all day waiting. I got up disgusted and went inside looking for food for us. we proceeded to the lobby bar and ordered some food and as the food came the floods started. i actually pointed out the drops from the ceiling to the bartender. As we waited for our food the water started pouring into the lobby like a waterfall! i have videos of it! We are with water pouring down to the right of us. When we finally got the room it smelled so bad of pure bleach that we got headaches and had to leave the balcony door open to let the smell out. The next morning i went to put my son in bath and saw shavings of glass so i had to clean the shower thoroughly. At this point i cleaned the whole bathroom only to find shards of broken glass u set the sink and along the corners. They do not clean well here. I also went out on the balcony only to find wet dirty clothes from the previous tenant. Pool was semi closed for repairs too.

Could be better

Very nice initial appearance, however the room had a very strong musty damp smell. This was our second time here and we encountered the same issue last time. Doubt we will be going back a third. We were also in a room near the lobby which was very loud with music until late hours of the night. Better places to stay for these prices in Cayman.

Disappointed at first but satisfied at the end.

Too much hammer jack noise first three days due to renovation in progress. Management listened to my concerns and made corrections by upgrading the room and reimbursing the resort charges. The pool should be cleaned more often or should use more effective methods. Too much stuff in the pool water.

Beautiful place however room was not ready til after 5pm with normal 3 pm check in. Kept saying 30 minutes it be ready at arrival time of 1:00pm Thank you

Hard Earned Money

10 night stay.. toilet not cleaned, had to ask to have it done, sheets not changed, had to ask, To have them changed. Had to ask for towels, bottled water, wash cloths. Construction was understandable but still had a 80.00 a day resort fee added to my bill. We spent 4600.00 for hotel and amenities. We will go somewhere else on our next visit to the Cayman Islands.
