Quality Inn near Hearst Castle

10/10 Excellent

"Staff was very nice and welcoming"

Cavalier Oceanfront Resort

8/10 Good

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Cavalier. The front desk staff in particular Roxy was super professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. She recommended several places in town to eat including the hotel's restaurant and all of her recommendations were spot on. She was attentive and answered all of our questions. The room: The room has a spectacular view and was cozy. A few things to consider regarding the room such as: we had no conditioner and body wash in the shower for over two days. It was unclear whether the drinks in the fridge were complimentary or if we had to pay, so we did not touch them. There was no fan in the restroom (only heating lamps) which shows the age of the room and need for upgrades. Location: Second to none. Staff at the restaurant: Most of them were very professional and welcoming, except for Marisela H. She seemed bossy and rude to the other staff in particular the young man who provided us with waters and took our initial drink order. She came to the table within less than a minute to ask if we were ready. Not sure what the rush was when there were more servers than actual guests. She appeared as if she did not want to be there, and speaking in Spanish to scold staff was not nice, given that I am bilingual and can understand that she was scolding the young man who prepped my latte and forgot that I had asked for an iced latte. Perhaps she did not want to be there and preferred to be home. Regardless, I was not impressed."
