Lobby and main entrance are beautiful. It was easy to get parking on street close to hotel. Food was very good at restaurant in hotel. Good breakfast too. Staff very helpful. The only weak point is the missing fridge or microwave in room, but staff offered to keep our cold items in the reception fridge. Room are comfortable.
Location very good to visit the area.

Beautiful spot, most polite friendly staff I've ever met,I mean every member of the staff(owners included) greeted me by first name for both days while I was there and treated me like an old friend returning for the 50th time, even though it was my first stay. what else can I say, great hotel, great staff & great food. of theirs anything they can do for you, they will.

Our room was actually in the Castle Lodge, about 200 yards before you reached the Castle. The grounds were terrific, and we were met by the "welcoming committee" (namely, 3 of the 4 castle dogs: Higgins, Molly/Maggie, and Einstein).
Our room (really a suite) was huge - about 40'by 32', including a sitting room. The bed was an extra large 4-poster canopy bed. The breakfast was served in the castle and it was delicious.

Wonderful, large and very clean room. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and we were even welcomed with a wee nip of whiskey at check in. Location is perfect, centrally located in Killarney. The breakfast is excellent but note that the €22.50 cost per person is additional to the room.

This is an amazing hotel! We only paid $150 per night and received treatment which far exceeded the price. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the spa is beautiful, and the FREE breakfast feels like it should cost at least $30/person-- hot food like pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc, smoothies, fruits, cereals, cheeses... seriously mouthwatering. The restaurant the Yew Tree is also very nice and serves delicious food with great service. The hotel itself is located within beautiful Killarney...

From the time we walked through the door at the hotel we were very well treated. The staff went above and beyond to offer any help they could. Would definitely recommend this place.

We really enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is close to the Killarney city centre and walking to restaurants and shops was easy.
The Hotel staff was extremely accommodating. Only issue (minor) was the hair dryer kept overheating.

Everything was top notch from the newly finished rooms to the delicious breakfast. The hotel is situated halfway between the town and the park entrance, 2 km from each. There is a lovely walk from the hotel to the stately gardens through woodlands along the lake.

The best area to stay in Scartaglin is within the village itself or in the immediate surrounding countryside, offering a balance of local accessibility and rural peace.
The village of Scartaglin is small but serves as a central point for the local community. It features a few pubs, a shop, and a church, providing a genuine taste of Irish village life. The main road, the R577, runs through the village, making it easy to navigate.
For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying in a guesthouse or a self-catering cottage just outside the village offers a lovely experience. These accommodations often provide scenic views of the rolling Kerry landscape and a quiet environment, superb for relaxing after exploring the region. You'll be close enough to pop into the village for a drink or a meal but far enough to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside.
Families might prefer staying in a larger self-catering property in the immediate vicinity of Scartaglin.
When is the best time to go to Scartaglin?
The best time to visit Scartaglin, County Kerry, is during the summer months, from June to August, or in the shoulder seasons of May and September.
These months offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the beautiful Kerry countryside. You'll find longer daylight hours and generally milder temperatures, which are ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, or visiting local historical sites. While rain is always a possibility in Ireland, these periods typically see less of it than the autumn and winter.
For those looking to enjoy local culture and events, the summer often features traditional music sessions and community gatherings in Scartaglin and nearby towns. This is a great time for couples or solo travellers who want to experience the local way of life and enjoy the scenic beauty without the chill of winter.
Families travelling with children might also find the summer months more convenient due to school holidays and the greater likelihood of dry weather for outdoor adventures.
