The Covid-19 pandemic scuttled our plans to stay at Luna Vista in September 2020. Our gracious hosts, Rick and Amanda, quickly offered to move our reservations forward to the same week in September 2021! Without a doubt, Luna Vista was well worth the year’s wait. We loved our daily outings to historic Santa Fe, Taos, the beautiful and serene chapel at Chimayo, and more. BUT — our time at Luna Vista was by far the best part of our trip. It is difficult to describe what makes Luna Vista so special without being effusive. The air and gentle breezes always feel fresh. Luna Vista is a home that welcomes everyone and becomes — truly — a spiritual experience. Filled with countless artwork treasures inside and outside, the house reflects not only the culture, history, and soul of the New Mexican culture, but clearly shows Rick and Amanda’s love for the property and the grandeur of the rugged land. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the patio along with friends Bunny Rabbit and Mule Deer who happily and nonchalantly munched nearby on fallen fruit of the loaded apple trees. We never tired of the views out of the many picture windows or from the the patios and pathways around the property — the changing light and colors of the sky filled us with awe and excitement. On a practical note, we found the house to be fully stocked and spotlessly clean with all the essentials and more — very comfy beds, an expansive kitchen with cupboards full of utensils, pots and pans, and dinnerware. The place offers plenty of space for all to enjoy time together and time for personal, quiet reflection. In the end, we couldn’t have dreamed of a better place to stay. By the way, while you are there, be sure to look at the Luna Vista photo book that Rick and Amanda have thoughtfully compiled. It includes beautiful photos of the area and recommendations for where to find the best fast meal or the restaurant serving the best fine dining — and a myriad of local events and activities for all ages to enjoy any season of the year. Thank you, Rick and Amanda! Best regards from a group of women who call themselves the Gypsies of Hutchinson High School Class of 1963!
