"I needed a place to stay while visiting family and was thankful to find a place in the country that would allow me to bring my dogs (one is deaf and has a very loud bark and one is a bully breed). They had a blast getting to see lizards for the first time. The cabin is amazing in a very quiet setting with wildlife just walking through. We had an amazing time and thank the hosts for letting us stay"

"Our family loved spending all the time outdoors by the fire pit and cooking blackberry cobbler from the berries around the property! Loved all the natural light in the cabin from the large windows. It’s the perfect oasis for being completely away from the busy city. Just make sure to have done your grocery shopping before you arrive as there isn’t always reliable access to a grocery store depending on hours."

Handmade Arkansas Red Tree Treehouse

Handmade Arkansas Red Tree Treehouse

10/10 Excellent
"Great place if you're coming off a day or two on the Buffalo River and looking to shower and sleep. Pros - Clean and fun. Good TV with satellite feed. Big deck for grilling and hanging out. Very hot while we were there but AC worked great. Big, clean shower. Great view of the Ozark hills from the front balcony. Big windows with view. Sleeping loft for kids.Cons - Pretty small indoor space. No vanity or sink in the bathroom, so you'll be brushing your teeth in the kitchen sink. It does feel like a treehouse with the steps going up, but I'm a big guy 6' 3" 300pds, and I was a little nervous going up the stairs. I wouldn't bring small children here. Too many opportunities for falling or getting hurt. But for teens and pre-teens this place would be fun."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Sand Gap?
The best area to stay in Sand Gap is certainly the area surrounding the Buffalo National River, particularly near the access points for popular trails and river activities. This region is superb for those who want to be right in the heart of nature, offering direct access to the Buffalo National River for canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Accommodation options are typically cabins or lodges located amongst the trees, providing a tranquil escape. It's an excellent choice for couples seeking a romantic and secluded retreat, with opportunities for scenic walks and wildlife spotting right on their doorstep. For families, staying closer to the town's amenities and general stores, while still within easy reach of the river, is a good option. This allows for convenient access to supplies and potentially more dining choices after a day of outdoor activities. Many accommodations in this area offer larger cabins or lodges with multiple bedrooms, making them suitable for groups.
When is the best time to go to Sand Gap?
The best time to go to Sand Gap is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the outdoors, with comfortable temperatures and less humidity than the summer. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and lush greenery, while autumn showcases stunning foliage as the leaves change colour, making it ideal for hiking and scenic drives. For those keen on outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, or fishing, these seasons provide optimal conditions. The trails are less crowded than in the peak summer months, and the rivers are often at good levels for water sports. Travellers looking for a tranquil escape into nature will find these times particularly appealing. While summer (June to August) is also popular, it can be quite warm and humid, and winter (November to March) can bring cold temperatures and occasional snow, which might limit some outdoor pursuits.
