Sargassum, piles on all the beaches in San Pedro, NOT the hotels fault. The local government is failing. The staff is fantastic, rooms are nice & clean, very quiet. Rooms 1 & 7 are great with awesome ocean views. A great place to stay. With that being said, San Pedro is not a good destination. The streets are dangerous, do to drunk's & reckless Gulf cart driving. So poisonous gas from sargassum on the beach, the streets all you smell is exhaust from the plethora/over crowding of gulf carts. Food & everything else is more expensive than the States. The hotel is about a block away from the main boat deck where the ferry arrives and it has a good restaurant and bar attached and a really good restaurant next-door for breakfast. Our room was on the beach with a little balcony overlooking the ocean. This hotel has normal prices compared with the other locations. If you are looking for luxury go somewhere else. The hotel staff is nice and made my stay pleasant. This islands are for certified divers only. This is not a party location. Stay at Kaye Caulker for cheaper tours to the open sea. Belize will milked you with high prices and government fees. But the coral reefs worth your wallet suffering. Be safe. But be aware that the room has no a.c. just fans. They don't help much.From late afternoon till late evening the room is very sticky. We would open the glass door at night to let the ocean breeze cool it off , but then bugs came in to room.It could use a screen.We had to sit outside till about midnight before the room cooled off enough that we could sleep.Also know there is no ice machine.
