But the rooms… We were told our room was not available and were moved to "Stevie." Later, we were offered to move to a smaller room with a view of the sea, but the shower didn’t allow us to adjust the temperature so we decided to stay in Stevie. In Stevie, the shower had very low pressure, and every time it took several minutes to get hot water. The room was a bit dusty. The bed was old and not very comfortable, but it was okay. I asked the front desk to give me a bottle of DRANO, but he said people in the maintenance department are gone for the night. The complex of buildings is over 300 years old and is full of history, art, colorful parrots and other birds in an amazing architectural and garden setting. Each of the 22 rooms is different. Mind you, it may not be for everyone, and if you find your comfort at a modern resort or generic chain hotel like the Marriott, perhaps you should choose that option. If your preference is with small boutique hotels with a lot of charm, character and interest, then stay at the Gallery Inn! It was clean, and the bed very comfortable. It was quiet and I slept well on nice sheets, with fresh towels, original art in the room, and a fantastic large terrace that overlooked Old San Juan. The air conditioning was great, and I would get up and turn it off in the night to open the terrace doors and let the cool breeze in. I loved it! The staff were professional, for the most part very friendly, and I felt welcomed and cared for. The Inn has a terrace bar overlooking the sea, a restaurant with good food, an amazing piano bar and salon with a gifted pianist playing every night. A shout out goes to musician extraordinaire Dave Hull, the staff, and everyone who made my stay memorable, including other talented performers, and interesting guests. Jan (the owner) amazing, and items she has collected and the Hotel is beyond words! With no fault of Jan we initially booked a one night stay for our honeymoon. We booked on hotels.com garden view room, and were greeted by a young lady that asked us about our luggage. We packed for a 2 week vacation and intended on flying out the following day, so we needed to pack and rearrange luggage. When we informed her of this she laughed and said you might wanna rethink that and rudely walked off. She walked us down a dark hall, up a spiral narrow staircase and into a room that was being cleaned. This was at approx. 445 ck in time was 3pm. She asked us to wait and ck in later. We still paid regular rate, checking in approx after 6pm we finally see our room. Not a garden view, but a wall and street with clubs and young party goers. No hand towels, no wash rags, no floor bath mat, no phone, no tv, and bed was very uncomfortable. We were unable to carry luggage to our room due to the narrow staircase, plastic bags instead. We paid over $320 for a garden view, and when we questioned this n asked for a fridge to use we were ignored and told we should have gotten a suite. Now the restaurant! Omg, Amazing! We will 100% visit that over n over! Food delicious, tapas was a tad bit over priced but we would pay again due to how delicious it all was. Ambiance gorgeous, entertainment so talented!! Jan\~ gorgeous.
