"Great two night stay in the beautiful two bedroom apartment. The pool was an added bonus - very refreshing in the heat. A great place for the start of our Italian adventure!"

"Amazing stay at this Masseria which exceeded all expectations. From the beautiful interiors and location, to the delicious breakfast and dinner cooked by the hosts, our stay was fantastic. Nick and Anja are incredible hosts and the Masseria is even more beautiful in real life. We loved waking up among the beautiful tree groves and enjoying the days by the pool. I literally cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing hotel and its incredible staff! My cousin and our 80+Moms used the hotel as a home base for 9 days, while exploring Puglia by car. The staff was incredibly welcoming and very helpful and patient with all our questions and offered amazing advice on places to eat and see. Christina at the front desk works so hard to take exceptional care of each guest. The fantastic Christian enthusiastically greeted us every morning and made sure...

Too much fireworks
We had reservation. We paid in full. They knew we were coming. But instead they had closed the street with food trucks. Then fireworks. Biggest fireworks man ever saw. It scared our little dog.
Next day we went to city hall to complain about noise from fireworks.
They were very nice and understanding. They said to make sure we are not disturbed like this again, we are never allowed back to this town. They have a strange way of solving problems.
Yes rooms were clean,...

Amazing staff, amazing service. Beautiful, unique place. Clean, comfortable, cozy.
The only caution I have is the rooms are not soundproof, much too much noise from the hallway is audible in the rooms, very unpleasant.

We were guests at 8PiuHotel for four nights. The hotel provided exceptional value. The rooms were good sized, well appointed, comfortable and clean. Breakfast, included with the room, was very good. The front desk staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. It was a 20 minute walk to the centre of Lecce, with ample parking, well situated for trips into the surrounding countryside. We would definitely stay there again .

We booked the Aqua Suite on the second floor. Super quiet street, short walk to shops and restaurants. Suite was spacious and super clean. Liked the little balcony to sit out with a drink.
We didn’t personally meet any staff, all was handled via WhatsApp messages. But they were very accommodating to our special requests.
The only complaint: given the location in the old town, there is no public transport taking you there. The hotel arranged transport from the airport to the hotel for 30 Euros....

Angelo and Fabiola (and Blue, their beautiful dog) have, we believe, built and maintain one of the most amazing masserias in all of Puglia. From the public spaces, to the suites and rooms, to their exquisite food, no detail is left unplanned. Without hesitation, we recommend Masseria La Palombara to everyone. Word of advice, you must have their tasting menu dinner. It is an unforgettable experience!

The best area to stay in San Donaci is within the town centre, particularly around Piazza Salandra and the surrounding streets.
This central area offers the most convenience and a pleasant experience for visitors. You'll find yourself close to local shops, traditional eateries, and the town's main church, Santa Maria delle Grazie. The streets here are generally easy to navigate on foot, allowing you to explore the local life at a relaxed pace.
Couples looking for a peaceful getaway often appreciate staying centrally. It provides easy access to the town's small wine bars and restaurants, great for enjoying local Puglian cuisine and wines without needing to travel far. The relaxed pace of the town centre makes it ideal for unwinding.
For those planning to explore the wider Salento region, staying in San Donaci's centre offers good access to main roads, making day trips to Lecce, Brindisi, or the Adriatic coast straightforward.
When is the best time to go to San Donaci?
The best times to visit San Donaci are during the shoulder seasons, specifically April to June and September to October, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, superb for exploring the Salento region without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find it comfortable for winery tours, cycling through olive groves, and relaxing on the nearby beaches. These periods also offer a more authentic experience, as local life is in full swing, and you can enjoy regional festivals and events.
Couples looking for a romantic escape will appreciate the quieter atmosphere and comfortable temperatures for enjoying al fresco dining and scenic drives. It's an ideal time for leisurely visits to historic towns like Lecce and Ostuni, as the tourist numbers are manageable, allowing for a more relaxed pace.
For travellers interested in local culture and culinary experiences, these months are particularly good. Many local sagre (food festivals) take place, celebrating regional produce and traditions.
