Top Saint-Martin-de-la-Place Hotel Reviews

Château de Briançon, The Originals Relais

Château de Briançon, The Originals Relais

10/10 Excellent
"The Chateau is a treasure, but the staff is even more of a treasure. Marine helped us with several things including translating an email from French to English ( we are weak in the French) , explaining the local restaurants and policies and even making a phone call for me since my phone was not able to make the call, to get my questions answered about a (French) future event . She was so patient and helpful . I very much appreciated her time and effort for us. Should we return to the area, we will certainly like to return to that hotel for an additional stay. Merci Marine!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Saint-Martin-De-La-Place?
The best area to stay in Saint-Martin-De-La-Place is within the village itself, or in the immediate surrounding countryside for those seeking a more secluded experience.

The village of Saint-Martin-De-La-Place is small and centred around its historic church, with a few local shops and a restaurant. It's a quiet, picturesque place, superb for those looking for a relaxed pace. The streets are narrow and winding, typical of a traditional French village, and you'll find a mix of stone houses and vineyards.

For couples looking for a peaceful getaway, staying directly in Saint-Martin-De-La-Place provides easy access to the village's amenities and a truly local experience. You're well-placed for leisurely walks or cycling along the Loire River, which is just a short distance away.

Those who prefer more privacy and space might consider a gîte or a chambre d'hôtes in the countryside just outside the village.
When is the best time to go to Saint-Martin-De-La-Place?
For the best weather and most activities, the ideal time to visit Saint-Martin-De-La-Place is between May and September.

During these months, the Loire Valley experiences pleasant temperatures, making it great for exploring the châteaux, cycling along the Loire à Vélo route, or enjoying a boat trip on the river. You'll find most attractions, vineyards, and restaurants are fully open and operating with extended hours.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will particularly enjoy late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September). The crowds are generally smaller than in the peak summer months, and the weather is still lovely for leisurely walks through vineyards or enjoying al fresco dining. The harvest season in September also brings a special charm to the region.

Families travelling with children might prefer the summer months of July and August. While it can be busier, the warmer weather is great for outdoor activities, and many châteaux offer special events and programmes designed for younger visitors.
