The best area to stay in Roussospiti is within the village itself, particularly around the central square and the streets immediately surrounding it.

This area is the heart of Roussospiti, offering a relaxed village experience with stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the city of Rethymno below. The narrow, winding streets are dotted with traditional stone houses, and the central square provides a focal point for local life, often with a traditional taverna or cafe. It's a peaceful spot, great for those looking to unwind.

Couples will find this area particularly appealing for a romantic escape. The quiet, picturesque setting, coupled with the opportunity to enjoy traditional Greek hospitality in a local taverna, creates a memorable experience. Many accommodations here offer private balconies or terraces with magnificent views, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening drink together.

For families, staying within the village centre offers a convenient and pleasant base. The absence of heavy traffic means children can explore the immediate vicinity with ease, and there are often open spaces or small playgrounds nearby. Family-friendly tavernas often have outdoor seating, making dining out a relaxed affair.

The best time to visit Roussospiti is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from April to early June and again from September to October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures superb for exploring, but without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find it comfortable for outdoor activities like hiking and visiting historical sites. The sea is also warm enough for swimming during these periods.

For those who enjoy a lively option and don't mind warmer temperatures, July and August are also popular, though the village will be busier, and temperatures can be quite high. This is ideal for families looking to enjoy the beaches and the full range of summer activities.
