"We loved our stay at the chateau. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. While they do not offer room service, I was able to get coffee each morning from the front desk. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious. We were within an hours drive of spectacular scenery and loved returning to the chateau each night. We didn’t find restaurants in the town, but we had lunch in lovely towns during the day and had picnic dinners on the grounds of the chateau in the evening."

ResidHotel Azuréa

8/10 Good

"Un grand appartement avec balcon ce qui est rare en France. La propreté de la cuisine aurait pu être mieux: le fond des armoires étaient sales. Toutefois, elle est bien équipée. L’immeuble est en rénovation mais le bruit était acceptable le personnel à la réception était courtois."

Miura

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed here for 2 nights on our way back north. The hotel is lovely and the rooms very comfortable, the restaurant was closed whilst we were there but the bar serves a nice selection without needing to go out. The hotel is ideally positioned to visit Annecy or do what we did and visit Mont Revard with outstanding views of the lake right next to the hotel, the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The breakfast buffet is good with enough choice to fill you up and there’s coffee available in your room which is a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again."

Urban Hotel Aix-les-Bains, BW Signature Collection

10/10 Excellent

"Great hotel in a fantastic location. Loved all the amenities in the bar area (screens, darts, games etc) which made our stay really fun (especially during the World Cup). Spacious and comfortable room. Lovely to have a pool, spa and gym too (although the gym was quite small). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again!!!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Puygros?

The best area to stay in Puygros, particularly for those seeking a tranquil and premium experience, is within the village itself or the immediate surrounding countryside.

The village of Puygros is small and offers a truly authentic regional experience. It's characterised by traditional stone houses, narrow lanes, and stunning views of the surrounding Auvergne landscape. You'll find a few local amenities here, such as a boulangerie for fresh bread and a small grocery shop. The pace of life is relaxed, and it's an ideal base for exploring the natural beauty of the area.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find the village of Puygros perfect. It offers a romantic setting with opportunities for scenic walks right from your doorstep. Many guesthouses and boutique hotels in and around the village provide exceptional service and amenities, often featuring local cuisine and comfortable, premium rooms, some with private terraces overlooking the valleys.

For families, staying in the countryside just outside Puygros offers more space and privacy. Many larger gîtes or villas are available, often with gardens or even private pools, providing plenty of room for children to play.

When is the best time to go to Puygros?

The best time to go to Puygros is typically during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

The countryside is lush and green, and wildflowers are often in bloom. It's a great time for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, with comfortable conditions for enjoying the volcanic landscapes of the Regional Natural Park of Auvergne Volcanoes.

September and October bring cooler, crisp air and often stunning autumnal colours across the forests and hillsides. This period is superb for those who enjoy scenic drives and walking, as the changing leaves create a beautiful backdrop. The harvest season also means opportunities to experience local produce and culinary traditions.
