We enjoyed our stay at LaVentana Beach Resort. Lalo was helpful with information for our stay. Our room was 3 steps from the sand and we enjoyed the proximity to the beach.

Loved my stay at ChangoMango. Cool concept "pods" very comfortable, great mattress. Common shower and toilet/sinks impeccably clean. Great common area on rooftop deck, around the bar, TV room during the Olympics for the evening. Staff attentive, fun social atmosphere. If doing wind sports will need to store gear outside room, but didn't seem an issue. Ample places to dry wet gear too. Good value for price. Close to beach, what more do you need?

I am almost reluctant to post this 5 star review in case it becomes so popular we can’t get in here again:) We loved this place so much. Gorgeous property. The staff were beyond good. They went above and beyond to make our stay remarkable.

The dogs were free to stay! The grounds were great for the dogs it was guilt and quaint. Rooms were clean although they need to look behind doors for dust etc.
Ocean view was really nice.
The restaurant was good! Service was great! Good delicious!

We were astounded by the beauty of this remote, peaceful find. Thanks to the positive internet reviews we booked 2 nights and we are already planning a return visit. The road was challenging in the extreme so we were glad we had rented a jeep! Once you have navigated the twists and bumps of the hilly, dirt road you will no doubt pat yourself on the back and look forward to doing it again! We asked for a quiet room and they located us away from the few lovely families (happy, well behaved...

The best area to stay in Punta Arenas is the central waterfront district, particularly around Avenida Costanera del Estrecho.
This area is the heart of the city, offering easy access to many of Punta Arenas's main attractions. Avenida Costanera del Estrecho runs along the Magellan Strait, providing scenic views and a pleasant promenade for strolling. You'll find a concentration of hotels, restaurants, and shops here, making it very convenient for visitors. The Plaza Muñoz Gamero, the city's main square, is just a few blocks inland and is a central point for exploring.
Couples will find this area particularly appealing due to its romantic waterfront setting and the abundance of quality dining options. Many hotels offer rooms with views of the Strait, and it's easy to enjoy evening walks along the promenade or visit the nearby historic ships at the Nao Victoria Museum.
For solo travellers, staying near the centre provides excellent access to public transport for exploring further afield, as well as a good selection of cafes and eateries for a relaxed meal or a quick bite.
When is the best time to go to Punta Arenas?
The best time to visit Punta Arenas is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.
During these months, you'll find comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings. The milder weather means you can enjoy activities like penguin watching on Magdalena Island or exploring the historic city centre without the intense cold of winter or the larger crowds of summer. This period is particularly good for couples looking for a relaxed trip with opportunities for wildlife viewing and cultural exploration.
The summer months (December to February) are the peak season, with warmer temperatures averaging around 20°C to 25°C, and are best for families. This is when many cruise ships visit, and the city is bustling with activity. While you'll find more events and excursions available, be prepared for larger crowds and higher prices for accommodation and tours.
Winter (June to August) brings colder temperatures, often dropping to 0°C or below, and can be quite windy.
