"We were very comfortable and could’ve brought more family. We loved the location and amenities. We didn’t cook, but there was a spacious kitchen. A perfect girl’s weekend!"

We loved the air hockey and ping pong in the basement. The host was very nice and was easy to get ahold of. I would definitely stay here again."

"A great all-around experience. Lot's of room to relax, a nice big kitchen with a breakfast bar, and all a stone's throw from Starved Rock. I loved the balcony off the bedroom and the jacuzzi. The Grand Bear lodge has a great bar as well. Great restaurant options between Utica, Peru and Ottawa, or venture over to the Starved Rock state park lodge restaurant."

"We enjoyed the peacefulness and seclusion of the house out in the country. It was a short drive over to Starved Rock and we even made a drive into a grocery store in LaSalle which was about 20 min away. We had a hard time getting the lock to open when getting in and with the heat but the owner was very quick to respond and resolve issues. He was kind and was understanding to our needs. Know that if you’re bringing children there’s only one bedroom with a door; the other is just partitioned off...

"The pictures don't do justice for this perfect little place."

"Based on the pictures you would think this was a simple but very nice home. However, once we checked in, just from the outside you could tell it has not been kept up. The deck is worn and weeds and trees are growing along side it. Inside, there were numerous things wrong, including a strong smell of cat pee that was in the hallway and got stronger in the bedroom. I let the owner know and she said she would have the cleaning crew check it out. However, it was clear that the countertops had not...

"Enjoyed family time with our adult kids, hiking into starved rock, access just across the highway!!! Lots of eating out and fun to visit in your home!"

"Nice, roomy old house - great for two couples with plenty of room to spread out and relax after hiking with comfortable beds. Loved all the little touches - handwritten welcome note, toiletries in case you forget any and lots of seasonings and condiments in a fully stocked kitchen. Super close to Starved Rock and nice winery and breweries."

"before arriving contacted property manager, asked about kitchen, was told i would have everything i would need to prepare a meal. Found no bakeware, or microwave ware, no measuring cups or spoons, only 4 forks and knives, 4 bowls, no strainer, no hand soap, garbage bags. Pots and pans that were there were dirty, all needed to be cleaned. The entire place was dirty, needs a deep cleaning. Sheets and comforters looked dirty, stained required washing. pillows flat and stained, no top sheets on the...

"Add stated a pool and then when you booked it you had to pay another HOA fee of 100.00 before we got there, they changed it to 300.00 but we already had a contract. Can't use the beach, playground or pool without paying the fee. The booking should list that. Minimal pool hours too The house was very nice. Lots of room. We will probably look elsewhere next year due to the pool drama."
