"For the money to room size was good, suite like, you could tell that this hotel was nice in its day, however, you could see how may times things had been repaired and moved around, it was just tired. The beds were comfy and the room was clean but tired, so there were stains, holes in the walls, gaps where things had been, light switches that didn’t do anything. For the money it was ok. I imagine if they invested the prices would have to soar. We attempted breakfast which we paid 17+ pounds for each, not enough staff, hotel was very busy which meant we paid for cold food, no cups, no bowls, no food and the replenishment could not come quickly enough. It was a waste of money for us to do it. Parking is plenty and the use of the spa was a nice bonus which meant this wasn’t a 2 star review "

"Lovely clean room. Quiet. Parking. Great location. The only thing that let it down for me was breakfast wasn’t being served in the pub the rooms are part of till after 11 (which was changed from the advertised 9/9.30). "

"Really nice hotel – I stayed for one night as a work base and it did the job well. Great location just off the motorway (M62), though as expected it can be a bit noisy in the rooms. Not much you can do about that given the proximity. Good facilities including a pool, gym, sauna and steam room, and the breakfast had a great variety - all fresh and hot. Special mention to Mason on the night reception. I had a bit of a late-night disaster after forgetting my charger, and he went out of his way to find one for me, as well as bringing teas and coffees to my room. After a long and stressful day, it was genuinely appreciated. He was kind, friendly, and a real credit to the hotel. All the team at Village Hotels are always welcoming and helpful - thank you! "

"The host cancelled this booking 3 hours before check in claiming issues with electrics and heating. She offered a sub standard property on Anfield Road, as a replacement with no reduction in cost even though the property offered was much cheaper. When we contacted Vrbo they held a three way conversation where the host said she was too busy to speak (even though support is 24/7) and we should email on the Monday after our weekend break was over. We passed the property we had paid for (the one here) and there was someone in there charging their car, so there was clearly no problem with property, she just changed ours for no reason. We did not stay in the second property we were dumped with. If I could give 0 stars I would. To date she has not repaid the money we paid. Issues such as broken back door so no security, no parking permit, garden gate held shut with a stack of chairs, hardly any cutlery, dirty pans some with food still left in to name but a few issues."
