About this property

Villa Idris, a charming villa with a pool in Praiano

  • Praiano is a small fishing village made up of houses scattered along the ridge of Monte S. Angelo, which ends at the deep-blue sea at Capo Sottile. Nestled in a cove is Marina di Praia, a small and charming beach surrounded by fishermen’s houses and boats, as well as small, unpretentious restaurants that draw you in with their simplicity. It is considered Positano’s “little sister,” with a similar beach and church, but nowhere near as overrun by tourists. If you walk up or down the main coastal road, you’ll discover a natural village with incredible views, undisturbed by the rumble of tour buses and cars. Lemon groves and terraced vineyards follow the contours of the terrain as it slopes gently down to the small coves where ancient Saracen towers stand guard against enemies that are, these days, unlikely to appear. The favourable climate, the fresh air, the beautifully blue sea, the warmth of the locals, and improving tourist facilities are just a few of the reasons that make Praiano an increasingly desirable place to spend one’s vacation.

Set in one of the most beautiful scenic areas of Praiano, Villa Idris occupies the entire first floor of a two-story building. It features two beautiful, spacious private gardens offering sweeping views of the sky, sea, and coastline.
The blue Mediterranean Sea lies just below the property; the water can be reached by walking down a communal staircase of about 250 steps that leads to a sunbathing terrace on the cliff.

The house is bright, spacious, and comfortable, with high vaulted ceilings and elegant, welcoming furnishings. The floors are tiled with shimmering majolica tiles.

A car is not necessary to stay at Villa Idris. The bus stop for routes to Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi, or other coastal towns is located within 400 metres of the house (including the 160 steps).
However, if you do have a car, we can reserve a parking spot in a private parking lot for a daily fee of 30–35 euros. This fee is payable in cash on site.
The private parking lot is located 800 metres from the house (including the 160 steps).

    Accommodation:
The total area of the villa is 110 square metres indoors and 400 square metres of outdoor space consisting of terraces and gardens with magnificent views of the sea, Praiano, and the Amalfi Coast stretching toward Positano and Capri.

The first terrace, approximately 240 square metres in size, is located at the entrance to the property. It is partially shaded by a pergola with a bamboo roof. The terrace features a comfortable seating area with built-in white stone benches, armchairs, and a sofa arranged around a low coffee table, as well as a dining table with chairs and a barbecue, all surrounded by potted trees and flowers.

The second terrace, located 9 steps below the main terrace, is 160 square metres in size. It features a pool, a sun umbrella, a table, deck chairs, and an outdoor shower.
Part of the garden is planted with seasonal vegetables; when in season, the produce is available to guests

From the garden, you enter directly into a spacious L-shaped living/dining room.
The furnishings include 2 sofas, a large flat-screen satellite TV, a dining table that seats up to six guests, and air conditioning/heating units.

The kitchen is spacious and comfortable, equipped with a six-burner gas stove, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher, an Italian-style coffee maker, and other small appliances. There is a table that seats four guests. From the kitchen, French doors lead out to the terrace.

From one side of the living room, a small hallway leads to two bedrooms, each with a double bed (160x180) and direct access to the garden through French doors.
The two bedrooms share a bathroom next door. The first bathroom is equipped with a sink, a toilet, a shower, a washing machine, and an air conditioning/heating unit. The second and larger bathroom is equipped with a sink, a toilet, a large Jacuzzi tub, and an air conditioning/heating unit.

Access: The villa is located below the main street of Praiano, the road that connects all the villages along the Amalfi Coast. It can be reached by walking along a pedestrian street of about 400 metres, which includes approximately 160 steps. The sea is right below the property. It can be reached by walking down a communal staircase of about 250 steps

    . Amenities: Pool (5 x 3 x 1.40), air conditioning and central heating

Beautiful part of Italy

The villa was nicely decorated, very clean, and in good shape upon our arrival. The check-in process was relatively easy and Benedetta and Antonietta were both very helpful and responsive. The views and the on-site pool were both a beautiful addition. However, I recommend the property description on VRBO be updated as follows: 1.) the description on VRBO states that the villa has two full bathrooms, both of which include a shower. Upon our arrival, we learned that there was only one stand up shower in one of the bathrooms and the second bathroom only had a bathtub. While there was a hand spritzer as part of the tub, it didn’t work and having 4 adults and only one shower was a bit inconvenient. 2.) The description says you can leave your car at the property as there is on-site parking, but that is not the case. While we were told during booking that the parking was at an offsite location and at an additional cost, I would recommend that the description be updated to not state that there is parking on-site. Thank you for an enjoyable visit to the Amalfi coast.
