The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. Hannah was super responsive and so friendly-check in was a breeze and no detail was left out. The master bedroom was a dream with a super comfy Cal King bed and luxe bedding- we slept great! Fully equipped kitchen (so impressed with the organization and labeling!), updated and remodeled home with all the bell and whistles.WeI appreciated that everyday items (shampoo, body wash, soaps, detergent and cleaning items) were available. Our only friendly suggestion would be to add table lamps in the living room because the overhead lighting was a little too bright for evening lounging and relaxing, but that’s minor. The house was beautifully furnished with everything you need. We all slept great in the comfortable beds and appreciated the amenities provided. My adult child and i were there for 4 nights in mid November. It was cold and damp outside but we were warm inside. Got lots of tv streaming. Nicely equipped kitchen. Walkable neighborhood. It had everything we needed and much more. The house is tastefully decorated. It didn't feel like a rental, it felt like home. Has all you need to to kick back and relax, dine-in or play games. Private parking spot is a bonus. Convenient location with many amenities just a quick step away: 7-11, Subway, Chinese food, a pub and a market. The hosts were very thoughtful and accommodating.
