Close to Old Port and Civic Center

Close to all in the Old Port but it's winter so I never left the pool! 82degrees and absolutely wonderful. Breakfast in the dining room was good. Roomservice for burgers and fries quick and good. Hope to get back for the next winter storm.

Pros: Location Shuttle bus service Very quiet
Cons: Heating/air conditioning system was so loud I had to turn it off at night.
Hotel was central, walking distance to great shopping and dining. I always felt safe in the building and surrounding vicinity.

Affordable stay for a weekend getaway

We chose the Holiday Inn for our weekend getaway in Portland and were very pleased. It's about a 6 minute walk to the shops and restaurants in Old Port, which was our primary destination all weekend. The hotel staff were able to accommodate an early check-in and room change from a double to a king upon request. The room had a great view of Casco Bay, was clean and modern, and had everything we needed for our stay. The hotel itself was quiet and clean. Parking in the garage was easy and we were able to leave our car there for a few hours after check-out to grab lunch. Very happy with our stay!

Conveniently close to events in Old Port.

The room was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom is small and the showerhead is too low.

Convenient location, great accommodations

We chose this hotel to be close to family during our visit to Portland. We were very pleased with the facilities and staff. In-house parking, a pleasant restaurant and very nice rooms (clean, up-to-date and comfartable) - and all at a reasonable rate.

Perfect location

I am a solo traveler and I felt very safe at this hotel. It's in the perfect location in Portland! You can walk anywhere! To downtown, to the waterfront, lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to pay for parking. But it seemed worth it compared to other hotels in the area. And it was great that there was cheap parking right next to the hotel so that when I checked out I could park my car there and still explore Portland while I had time. The gym was a little dated but definitely functional. The room was very comfortable. I really liked that there was hot chocolate and coffee in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again!

Disappointment from year's past

Pros: Close to the Old Port; parking only $10 a night.
Cons: Monitor what guests are doing that disturbs others; update the standard rooms.
I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last ten years. I was only in Portland overnight this past weekend and decided to go with a standard room, no water view. I had been on the road for eight hours and was looking forward to retiring early. Yes, it was Saturday night, but coming off the elevator I smelled a strong scent of marijuana and was met by many guests moving between rooms partying - loud music, banging on walls, loud voices. I asked to move rooms and was moved to one a floor up next to the elevator. It was quiet; however I heard the elevator all night. The room was clean, but needed to be updated. Heater was loud and clanging all night as well. Sorry to see a hotel I would formally bring my children to change for the worst.

We are very sorry for your recent experience with us. While we do have security on site, tracking down which guest may be inconveniencing other guests is not always an immediate process. Our security has recently made some changes to their patrols to try to improve area coverage. The other issues you experienced will also certainly be addressed. Our engineering department will be monitoring the heating units more closely to try catch units that may need repair before a guest like yourself is subjected to a night of disrupted sleep. We sincerely apologize that your stay was not up to your and therefor our expectations. Please know we take the problems you dealt with seriously and will try to again earn your trust as we had in the past.
