Play on the sandy beach, take a dip in Lake Erie, or just sit on the front porch rockers gazing at the lake and soaking in the breeze. Our Happy Place is the ultimate lake front escape and the only vacation home rental on iconic Perry Street in Port Clinton, Ohio. Our Happy Place is a beautiful 4-square home that is over 100 years old with all of the original woodwork and soaring ceilings that one would expect, but with also fully renovated kitchen and bathrooms. The cook's kitchen has stainless steel appliances, large island, a gas range and quartz counter tops. Don't want to cook? No problem! You can walk to numerous downtown restaurants, bars, popcorn shops and ice cream stores! Enjoy Music On Madison during the summer where the street downtown is blocked off for live music on the weekends. You can also walk to the Jet Express ferry which will whisk you away to Put-in-Bay Island or Kelly's Island for a day of adventure. The owners are hyper focused on cleanliness. They have stayed at too many vacation rentals where the owners clean the sheets but not the quilts for each new guest. All bedding linens and quilts are crisp and freshly laundered. Ever rented a place and there were stains on the furniture? Not here. The furniture has slip-covers that are fresh washed for each new guest. The front of the house has a large lake-front, covered patio with rocking chairs and expansive front yard. back of the house has a HUGE concrete patio with umbrella tables, grill, party lights, and a view of the lake. The first floor has a large kitchen, dining room, family room, half bath and game room. The 2nd floor has 4 bedrooms (3 with king-size beds and one room with double bunk beds) and 2 full baths. The full baths open to a king bedroom and to the hallway, so can be used as an on-suite or for multiple bedrooms. The third floor is an open loft with a kitchenette, large closet, full bathroom and five single beds. Two of the single beds can be pushed together for a king bed. This house is built for family vacations and building lasting memories! With the generous dining room size and the outdoor patio, we ate together at the house for every meal. The front porch was a wonderful gathering spot for afternoon visits in the rocking chairs. Our family ranged in age from 2 to 78 and it worked well for all. The new finish out is beautifully done, and the house was exceptionally clean. I recommend this property for any larger group. We stayed with our kids and grandkids over Labor Day Weekend and enjoyed our visit so very much! The view of the lake was amazing! We spent each evening on the patio around the firepit. We cooked out on the grill. Our family was so comfortable in the beautifully decorated spaces of family room, kitchen and dining room. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect to accommodate our family. We spent 2 days on the nearby beach, built sand castles and swam in the lake. The property charges a significant cleaning fee and requires either a purchase of damage insurance or a large deposit. Overall we felt it was too expensive for what you get. Positives—It was clean and the furniture is comfortable and the house is close to downtown and the tourist boats. If you have a very large group and are going to cook and spend most of your time in the house it might be ok but for a smaller group it is not a good value. The house is nice but is on two busy streets. One in front and one on the side— the traffic is very noisy with loud cars starting early in the morning and going late into the night. The host was very nice and responsive —- there was no heat for the first day and night we were there — it was March and the house was 60 degrees! The host apologized profusely but I was surprised she did not offer a discount on our stay because of it. Check before you rent this house re toiletries —-The house is not normally stocked with soap or toiletries in bathrooms and there were no hairdryers until I called to complain. The host did send those supplies by delivery service but I had to unpack them and place them in all the bathrooms. Not what I would expect for what we paid for each night. ##### Valerie N. The front porch had amazing views and there were plenty of rocking chairs which was perfect. Hosts were super friendly and helpful. Only thing we wished we had were more towels per person as we had to do a few loads of towels to make it through.
