"Beautiful ocean-front view from our balcony (psychedelic sunrises); across the street from Kill Devil Grill -- fab food and fun bar, and you (almost) can't get in trouble heading back to your room. Decent breakfast, mellow fellow guests. The John Yancey is small and not super-glitzy, but it's got what you need, provided you came basically for "beach.""

"We stayed 3 nights, the office is only open 9am-8pm, so plan on checking in before 8pm. We had to take our own garbage out, as we never saw a cleaning person. We needed new towels but were usually up and gone before the office opened and back after it was closed. The room itself was ok, the bed was slanted so it felt like we were sleeping downhill. The door does not seal well so as others opened and closed their door, ours rattled and lots of light came in around it. Parking was fine, beach was steps away."

"Unannounced renovations that started at 9am. Drilling, grinding and sawing. Sounded like it was right underneath me. Shower faucet was coming off the wall and leaking. Tub didn't drain well. I alerted the front desk to the issue after my first shower on the first morning of my stay and it never was fixed. Room was fine other than that. "
