The rooms are great and offer a beautiful view of the water. The staff are friendly and always on top of everything/requests. Paola was THE BEST during our 5 days there and took very good care of all of our group of 9\. The only issue(s) I had during our stay is my bracelet/key wouldn't work on 2 different occasions and I had to have security come let me in my room both nights and on separate night, I was in my room lying naked and they must have assigned my room to another party erroneously as a female guest walked into our room (when the TV turned on, there was another guests name on the TV, not mine). I did mention it to staff but there was no follow up. Several in our party did end up getting sick after eating the same food on the same day, but it's hard to tell if it was the food or the mix of food/alcohol (the food that night was not enjoyable). I would definitely be willing to try it a second time with my husband, but I think I would prefer to try another resort in another area and experience more of Costa Rica before trying PH again. What an experience we had top notch service from everyone. Food at buffet was not the greatest but the hibachi and steak house were great from service to food. I would like to point out two of the staff that made our stay at planet Hollywood memorable. Gabby who made sure our stay and reservations were all taken care of she also had my sister room decorated along with dinner at hibachi that included a cake for her birthday. And last but not least Paola our fantastic bar tender who went above and beyond every day to take care of our party of 10\. From drinks, food, music or a special request even on Paola birthday she made sure we were all having a great time. When we arrived we booked a spa treatment with Princess, it was great experience. In general loved the property it gave cruise ship vibes on land. The customer service wasn’t bad just maybe not quite the same as the past. Kevin (John Wick) was our cabana service for the last two days and he was absolutely amazing!! Even though we were slightly disappointed we will return. The resort was beautiful, as was the views. I came with a group of 10 girls for a bachelorette. We were able to enjoy all the amenities offered. When we first arrived the room I was assigned to was not ready, the hotel staff was super accommodating and assigned us a premium room with ocean views. One of the joys of the hotel were the constant pool parties! We all had a blast. There were many accommodating staff. Special shout out to Jeffery (he was our waiter when we ate at the steak restaurant), Lewis (he was one of the bartenders at the pool - he makes amazing drinks and always added a special touch), Freddie (who brought smiles to our faces the first night we arrived and ate at the buffet), and Jedder (who brought so much entertainment during our pool days). It’s a place I would recommend to stay. Also, the staff that works at the excursion section at the hotel were top tier, I highly recommend booking through planet hotel for all excursions. We traveled as a party of 6 and had a wonderful week. Because we booked through Expedia, the resort seemed to place special significance on our reservation — we received Expedia wristbands & door hangers, which made us feel oddly VIP (maybe damage control given mixed reviews, but we felt well cared for). Don’t believe the haters — they truly aim to please. Do the pre-check-in if possible. The app didn’t work for me, and the in-person process is long when you just want to start vacationing. Had a hiccup at check in. Noella came over as we sorted it out and turned things around. She gave us her direct number, checked in frequently, comped us a cabana, and got us into every restaurant as desired. She is truly an angel and made sure a small glitch didn't turn into a big deal. Restaurant food was excellent; buffet was hit or miss but had surprises — especially made-to-order items. Pro tip: bacon is only available by asking the omelet cooks. Dinner at the restaurants is the way to go, every meal our group ordered was delicious. At the time of writing, this is the only resort in the bay, so the beach is not crowded. Kayaks and paddleboards require reservations and they have only 2 of each total. Beach vendors were friendly, conversational, and respectful — never pushy. Lovely people. Love the Tico spirit. Shout out to Emu for having those tequila shots always at the ready! Great resort for day drinkers: fun daytime party vibe, quieter nights. DJs were meh.
