AmericInn by Wyndham Fairfield

10/10 Excellent

"Very nice lean hotel."

Cobblestone Hotel & Suites - Ottumwa

10/10 Excellent

"The staff are the real stars here! They are so nice - from the front desk to housekeeping. Special thanks to Erica in housekeeping for making the stay wonderful. I had asked for bare minimum (new sheets and towels) and she did it all plus gave me extras of towels. She saw my little boys! Appreciated the thoughtfulness. The ladies in the breakfast room were also very nice, making sure the kids and I had what we needed. Biscuits and Gravy are Sundays BTW. It was delicious everyday. Great stay! Thank you!"

Hampton Inn Ottumwa

8/10 Good

"Overall the whole place was clean, especially considering the fair rate. The elevator could use some love and outside the door they don't have someplace for smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts. They were all over the ground! I would stay there again. We didn't try the breakfast it looked very sparce. There is a nice little restaurant in the shopping complex behind the hotel. Oh the staff was nice, but there were disruptive children running around...school was out. Overall everything that mattered was just great!"

Best Western Ottumwa Inn & Suites

10/10 Excellent

"**Outstanding Customer Service – Thank You, Victor!** Victor provided exceptional customer service during our stay at Best Western Ottumwa Inn & Suites. He was incredibly helpful, supportive, and cooperative, and went above and beyond to assist us whenever we needed help. His kindness, patience, and willingness to help made a real difference in our experience. It’s rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about guests and does everything possible to make their stay comfortable and stress-free. Victor is a great example of outstanding hospitality and customer service. Thank you, Victor, for all your help and support. You truly made our stay a much better experience! Best Western is lucky to have such a dedicated and wonderful team member. Highly recommended!"

The Artist's Secret Garden

8/10 Good

"Easy to find and check in. The apartment was historic, and the art was beautiful. The place was clean, felt like home immediately, was well maintained, and kitchen and bathroom amenities were bountiful. Internet wifi was fast (I had to upload large video files and did so quickly). I appreciated the communication prior to check in, and the written instructions and local tips in the host's guide book. Downtown was a quick 8 minute walk and very safe for female traveling alone. There are several great options for eating and shopping in the downtown area, including vegetarian food at the Mexican restaurant and Ethiopian lunch at the conference hall. The only complaint was the sound of a child running and jumping upstairs after 8:00 PM, which I would have expected if I had known a family with young children lived upstairs in the old house with wood floors. However, if one is used to that, it is a perfect stay!"

You'll find the village's primary shops, eateries, and services concentrated along Main Street, making it very walkable for exploring the local offerings. The village is small and easily navigated on foot.

For travellers looking for a relaxed, small-town experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. It provides easy access to local events and community life, allowing you to enjoy the slower pace and friendly atmosphere. You're never far from a cup of coffee or a local meal.
