This campground is a work in progress. the owner is installing water and electric to improve the camping experience. It is a nice, peaceful area. The sites were a bit crowded but since it was nearly empty, that was not a concern. I'll be back.

Stafff was great. Campground was ok but turned into a party zone at night. Music screaming yelling slamming doors constantly. I ppacked up and left for a hotel at 1 am. Party on both ends was going strong.

The location is great, especially if you’re planning to visit Buffalo Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, or Starved Rock. They also offer kayaking on-site, and I believe they offer discounts on kayaking if you’re staying at the campground.
The nearest towns are about 10–15 minutes away, so you’re still fairly close to restaurants, stores, and other necessities.
A few things to keep in mind: there are no showers, and the campground only has porta-potties. The grounds were okay but could have been better maintained. Only a handful of sites are directly along the river.
Unfortunately, our site was very close to the entrance, so we heard cars coming in and out throughout our stay. If you have a preference for where you’d like to camp, I’d recommend contacting them ahead of time and requesting a specific area or site.

The property was over grown and looked nothing like the pictures on the website! On the website and the amenities said it came with everything and it came with nothing

Best bang for buck you'll ever find. Not perfect as they don't have showers, and the sand is a bit annoying but the best for budget. Kayaking there was awesome 👍
