"Fin leilighet som fylte våre behov! Det ene soverommet har to dobbeltsenger. Air condition fungerte ikke på dette rommet. Det var en romslig og fin leilighet, men dårlig renhold ved ankomst. "

"Spice Palace Hotel was a great place to stay in Stone Town. The breakfast was better than I expected (omelette served, location was center of Stone Town, staff was very helpful and price was great. My only complaint was that the pool could have been warmer. I would stay here again. Stayed 5 nights."

"Breakfast is great though not buffet. The location is in the middle of stone town and very near to the sea and the night market location. Staff is so friendly. I prefer if the toilet has door instead of a curtain. The room was without telephone but it was very near to the reception desk so it was ok."

"A wonderful stay in the heart of Stone Town!
We stayed at Emerson Spice during our trip to Zanzibar and what a fantastic place it is!
The hotel is full of character, with beautiful traditional architecture and a real sense of Zanzibar’s history. It’s completely different from your typical hotel, which is exactly what makes it so special.
The location is brilliant for exploring Stone Town, with everything within easy walking distance. The atmosphere is relaxed and authentic, and staying here...

You can find out about the history of Ng'ambo with a visit to Livingstone's House. Wander the area's beautiful beaches or simply enjoy one of its top-notch restaurants.
The hotel is incredibly interesting and beautiful. The room was excellent and the restaurant upstairs delicious.
The team was more than happy to help with anything we needed and we were sad to leave.

We really enjoyed our stay here although it was a bit on the short side. We were very pleased with the service (manager and his staff were very willing to help us with anything) and also that they allowed us to keep all our baggage in one room (we had 3) until the afternoon when we left for the airport. Excellent food for breakfast! Great pool area and decor was in keeping with Stone Town.
The AC didn't work in one room so that was a bit of a minus but if we had stayed another night, we would...

We had one night in Stone Town and stayed at Maru Maru. The hotel arranged for a tour guide to take us through the streets and give us a brief history of the town - very good tour.
We had lunch and dinner at the rooftop restaurant and enjoyed the meals immensely.
The room was very bright, clean and comfortable. The washroom was clean and beautiful.
We were able to leave our bags in storage for 3 hours while we wandered the streets and the hotel arranged for a driver to take us to the...

The staff at Kholle House treated me like a queen and looked after my every need. They organized local guiding services, helped me with transportation to the airport and made sure I was comfortable at all times. As a single woman traveler, I am sometimes "overlooked" but at Kholle House I was made to feel honored. Louisa, the two Ali's, and everyone else at the hotel provided excellent service during my few days with them. I was sorry that at the end of my stay everything suddenly became a...

I would highly recommend this hotel in Stone Town. It is a wonderful place to stay with very friendly staff and functional facilities.
The breakfast is also decent too!
Oh and the proximity to the ferry and most places. Nice gem.

We were pleasantly suprised with our stay at seyyida! If you’re thinking of booking … don’t hesitate ! We had the most memorable stay! The location is just off the Main Street off the beach - a quick walk from the ferry terminal and the night market. Stone town can feel quite intimidating to navigate upon arrival- we loved and took comfort knowing as long as we could find the ocean we could find our hotel. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Seamless check in with exceptional service. I failed to do my due diligence and got a room that faced alleys with adjacent dwellings that had much desirable walls requiring paint and garbage below. I would still recommend Tembo Hotel but ensure you select one with city view and/or balcony as the property does have multiple sections. Don't hesitate to reach out to them as they do respond back. People in general are very humble and respectful.

For most visitors to Ng'Ambo, the best area to stay is Stone Town, which is the historic core of the city.
Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its winding alleyways, coral stone buildings, and intricately carved wooden doors. It's a compact and walkable area, with landmarks like the Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens, and the House of Wonders all within easy reach. The main streets like Creek Road and Kenyatta Road define the edges of its most popular sections.
Couples often find Stone Town ideal for a romantic trip. The narrow streets are great for leisurely strolls, discovering hidden courtyards and rooftop restaurants with views of the Indian Ocean. The evening food market at Forodhani Gardens offers a unique dining experience right on the waterfront.
Solo travellers will also appreciate Stone Town for its accessibility and the sheer number of guesthouses and boutique hotels.
When is the best time to go to Ng'Ambo?
The best time to visit Ng'Ambo is during the dry seasons, which run from December to February and again from June to October.
These months offer consistently sunny skies and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the historic Stone Town and relaxing on the nearby beaches. You'll find less humidity and generally calm waters for activities like snorkelling and diving.
Travellers looking for a beach holiday will appreciate the December to February period. The weather is superb for sunbathing and swimming, and the sea breezes keep things comfortable. It's a popular time, so booking your accommodation and any excursions in advance is a good idea.
For those interested in exploring the cultural and historical sites of Ng'Ambo, the June to October dry season is excellent. The cooler temperatures make walking around Stone Town more comfortable, and you'll still enjoy plenty of sunshine for day trips to spice farms or other attractions.
