A simple 1-5 stars doesn't do a review justice. The hosts, are as thorough in their instructions as they come, so this review needs to do them justice in that same regard.
The most important thing to know about this property is that it is utterly amazing! And, as advertised, if not more so. We've stayed in a lot of VRBO properties, but this is at the very top of the list when it comes to being prepared for anything. Between what the hosts provide (grill, tons of dinnerware, cookware, glassware, serving bowls and utensils, paper goods, cards, games, etc) and what thoughtful renters leave behind (spices, condiments, storage containers, etc), you won't find a better stocked kitchen for your every cooking need. And don't let the 'old' appliances fool you...the stove and dishwasher may be dated, but they work great! Sometimes, newer isn't better and that certainly played out with us. The view is stunning, as every renter notes in the guest book. There's no better word. Morning mists enhanced the beauty 10 fold. We were tremendously lucky in our choice of dates, as every day was perfect, October is always beautiful, but rarely do you find two weeks of perfect weather. No rain until the evening before we left. Perfect really...the heavens cried a little right along with us. (We are natives living in the deep south and it was hard leaving 'home'). The house itself it 'beary' cozy (you'll see what I mean). The fireplace was a huge hit, the beds all very comfortable. Fluffier throw pillows on the couches would be nice, but that extra coziness just may interfere with getting out and enjoying the lake. This time of year wasn't conducive to fishing from the dock due to the water level, but can just imagine it would be great.
Now, as perfect as all that was, 1 issue was the amount of spiders, mostly outside, but sadly, not all. As to the outside, there are numerous trees, so we can't complain about nature being nature. But the build up of active webs and sticky 'spideryness' on all the windows could be addressed so it's not the 1st thing you notice or deal with, when going out on the decks. Inside, we dealt with it, but didn't like it. Pet friendly is great, but very difficult to take care of their business in long grass. Would have been nice had it been mowed. The lower deck - nice, but too much spidery stuff to deal with, so we didn't. Was hard navigate to/from the firepit as it's very dark. Take care with older guests, it's sloped and slippery in the dew.
