Being our 22 year coming to this location, our family of 25 people were less than impressed this year. My unit had the least amount of issues, but we still were a bit underwhelmed when it came to our stay. There was good from the previous renter/owner in the sink, hair in the shower, and other “dirt spots” around the corners in the main space. We couldn't find the basic kitchen items needed and the dryer (only used twice) seemed less than functional.
Although these next items were not specific to our unit, they did affect our stay. My parents and grandmother were moved from the first to third and then fifth floor. This made it very hard on my grandmother, who has difficulty walking up and down stairs, since the elevator wasn't always ideal during some of the storms (power did go out once, and it made her nervous to ride again). My family also cooks and eats meals together, and this involuntary move prevented us from doing so this year since we were separated from first and fifth floors. My aunt and uncle and their family had an absolutely awful experience with the vacuum/dryer in their room due to the leak that happened a few floors up. All had a very hard time sleeping the entire week. Had either of these two things (being moved to the fifth floor or horribly noisy room) happened to the four of us staying in our room, we may have had to cancel and leave being that we have two small children who cannot use the stairs, need lots of equipment for the beach, and wouldn't have been able to sleep with the noise.
Our large family loves EBS. Some of us have grown up here each summer and wanted to do the same with our children as well. I hope that we can return next year with owners NOT being able to change our rental stays (if we “sign” a renters contract saying we are coming on this day and will pay said amount, owners should have to abide by some rules as well) and cleaning standards a little higher. I hope to raise my own kids on Breakers burgers, Dolly's souvenirs, and EBS as a second home.
