Liked: Property conditions & facilities
Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Staff severely requires training but the owners are at fault. Bar staff ignores you until you ask for service, rooms only get cleaned if you request, water gets turned off throughout the day, cab drivers don’t like to drive here past 10pm because of the location and conditions of road, etc.
We loved this property because it was not over crowded, it has beautiful views and the owners and staff are great! We had fun visiting with other guests and the food was delicious! We will be back!!
This hotel is a little far away from everything else, which initially had me skeptical. But I have to say that this was a magnificent property. Great food and drink options at reasonable prices. The free shuttle was very helpful. It goes to 7 mile beach three times daily. If you want to stop somewhere on the way like Rick’s or a convenient store, they are very casual about it. The employees are very enthusiastic and helpful, and the owner was fantastic, very involved in the guest experience. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Disliked: Staff & service
I liked how quiet it was. I did not like that the staff, mostly the evening bartender, did not want to be bothered with us. The gentleman during the day was nice. Our air in the room went out everyday making it hard to sleep especially since we could not open the windows.
Dan and his team at the Westender make you feel like family from the moment you get there. The location is quiet but beautiful and everyone working there generally makes you feel at home. I'd gladly return to the Westender like many of the repeat guests we met. They come back for good reason!
Small, quiet resort. Pools nice but no handles to hold while getting in and out. Reasonable prices for menu items but very limited and asking for changes not allowed. Very expensive transportation to and from Negril and MCO.
Arrived earlier than the check-in time and was able to enter the cottage once it was prepared for use.
Second time staying at this property but not so enjoyable this time around. Had a different cottage to the first - floors were noisy when walking, light and water outages throughout our stay (without notice), poorly lit surroundings of cottage.
Was informed (too late of a notice) that a request for change of cottage could be made - the staff necessary to accommodate this request had already left property.
The plus to my trip was the food - dinner was amazing!!! Hats off to the chef; had curried shrimp and curried oxtails meals - both were finger-licking good!!! and the portions were worth the dollars spent! The festivals were mouth watering!
We loved the garden view, trees, flowers and the morning chirping of birds. The beach from was ok - it is rocky and therefore not walk friendly. The breakfast was great and our host got us right food for our vegan / vegetarian diets. The biggest downside for this hotel is the roads to the hotel are in pretty bad shape. Also some maintenance issues came up, but the hotel staff did take prompt action to resolve them. Hopefully they will do them proactively in the future. We also had some trouble with water faucets running dry half way into a shower.
Overall the place had potential. The friendly staff was a bonus.
