Expedia overbooked so we were sent to another RIU for our first night. Then we went back to the Palace and had to wait 4 hours for our room to be ready, from noon until 4pm. What a waste of our day! The Palace is a nice place. On the smaller side but nice. The nightly entertainment was just ok, nothing special. Drinks are weak, very weak. Staff was phenomenal. The buffet was poor quality and food was mostly cold. The other four restaurants were very good. Beautiful beach with great service.

We arrived to Riu and we were told that the property had no rooms available for us even though we had booked and prepaid for our Ocean View Suite 5 months in advance. The hotel sent us to a sister hotel about an hour away and put us in a standard room that was near the back of the hotel with a view of the parking area. They eventually brought us back to the original hotel that we booked and put us in the correct room but not after having ruined our vacation. We managed to enjoy the few days left that we had. Kind of hard to enjoy your vacation when you can settle down into your room and unpack your stuff. Both Riu and Expedia barely wanted to help out and only after spending 4 hours on the phone with Riu and Expedia customer service did they finally give us a small credit that wouldn’t even make up for one days worth of vacation. Not the greatest customer service on either end.

The property is very secluded and mellow. Perfect location in Bloody Bay with calm waves and plenty of space. I never felt like the beach was crowded or the hotel itself. When we arrived, we were told that they were overbooked and we had to be transferred to their other resort for the night. While this was super frustrating (and the other property is definitely not what we were hoping for), the hotel staff quickly remedied the situation when we came back the next day. The reception desk and management worked with us to resolve the inconvenience in a way that made the most sense for our trip. Ullian is the best!! Additionally, we were gifted a fruit plate and champagne in our room after we arrived back at Riu Palace. The amenities are outstanding and the staff are so attentive. Despite the mishap at the start of our trip, we certainly will come back to Riu Palace.

Riu Palace is a fantastic resort in all respects but one: it is impossible to take a decent shower in your room at any time of the day. The water pressure is that of a garden watering can, and the water is either too hot or too cold—never the right temperature. The plumber who came to fix it could not do anything about it and pretended that everything worked as it should, but that we obviously did not know how to use a shower. And when a person who is supposed to fix a problem starts blaming you for causing it, you know that he knows that the problem cannot be fixed. The resort is a paradise in which you cannot take a shower.

Great value for price. Speedy bar service, great snorkeling and diving excursions. Entertainment was a nice and unexpected touch. Sad about the single use plastic situations for the bar cups.

Resort false claiming on the Expedia website as having tennis court , and it was one of the main reasons I have chosen RIU,but it was big disappointment ,when we found out there were no tennis courts. Beach itself has very shallow water,and on top of it,overcrowded with old smelly power boats that trying to sell rides ,parasailing ,often crossing into swimming area. You can smell and taste gasoline in the water. After we complained to the security and reception ,no change was made. I will never go back to RIU resort ,and definitely advise anyone not to book this place.
