We went there for a two day ski trip and it was an amazing experience. Very friendly staff, Japanese style lobby and restaurant. Clean down-to earth rooms with possibility to do some cooking for yourself in a shared kitchen. The staff were so friendly and spoke fluent English. They went out of their way to help me plan activities on my trip and understand the area. The beds were comfortable and the ambience was cozy. They even have an adorable and calm dog on the property who greeted me whenever I returned to the Pension! Chika was excellent at communicating before we arrived and was so friendly and welcoming. Great location in Echoland, 5 minute walk to the main street and lots of shuttle stops for ski resorts within 5 mins or less walk. Discount on rentals and lift tickets was great. We stayed in the adjacent log building which was beautiful and had a great kitchen and shared living area with a fire. Room itself was lovely, really cosy and warm with comfy beds. Chika even surprised us with a cheesecake board as a congratulations on our last night. Easy walking distance to restaurants and ski resort shuttles. The hospitality and helpfulness of the staff - particularly the main woman who seems to do everything around there - was second to none! She spoke perfect English and helped with everything from recommending restaurants and onsen, navigating how to take different ski shuttles, to even giving me a ride to the bus station early one morning when I wanted to catch an early shuttle for a powder day. I would stay here again without hesitation simply because of the incredible hospitality and helpfulness. I felt right at home, and she was an absolute rock star who made my stay amazing. The breakfast in the onsite restaurant was fantastic and convenient, the drying room for ski gear was more than sufficient, and everything I needed was there. My room was very spacious and had everything you'd expect. My only slight complaint was that it was difficult to keep my room warm enough at times and it could be quite chilly in the evenings - however my stay also coincided with one of the coldest stretches you'll ever experience in Hakuba, so that was definitely a factor. For reference, I stayed in the "log cabin" which is a separate building from the main Pension Meteor building, and the log cabin seems a bit draftier. Fine once in bed with all the sheets on.
