This house is ideal for a relaxing stay, with fishing literally right out the back door, and the owner is the perfect host.
The house itself is in excellent condition, clean and nicely furnished, and the porch and deck on the bayou are a pleasure.
Rick, the owner, is easy to contact with questions and responds quickly. He's also pretty funny.
The area is quiet. Montagut (pronounced Monague for those of us northerners who aren't familiar with the dialect) is very small with a convenience store/gas station, post office, and of course, bar. But nearby Chauvin has everything else you need, and larger Houma has larger stores, restaurants, a visitor center, small museums, and other places of interest to travelers.
One thing I found particularly noteworthy. All over the south locals boast about how friendly they are, and about southern hospitality. It's ACTUALLY TRUE in Montagut and Chauvin. We felt it everywhere we went and with everyone we talked to.
